Best oil to maintain box traps that wont deter critters?

Looking forward to trapping season.
Will any cheap veggie oil work to maintain box traps?
What about fish oil?

Unless there's a product made specifically for it, I'd use a scent-free variety of mineral oil.

This, if you just need a little bit you can get a bottle of white mineral oil they sell at drug stores for use as a laxative.

dyed with boiled in walnut hulls with a film of bee's wax melted on the surface is how we always did it. pull out slow, put new wax on the dye as needed. then store away from pretty much everything possible that would cause an odor somehow.
