Currently interested in a CUDC201HG, typically running about $260-ish. Whether vendor specific adaptations or just scammy shit. Specs and pics appear identical. Most of the heavily discounted items are sellers shipping from Japan, one is advertised on Walmart's webpage. Just trying to determine if these are lesser quality, older model close outs, or just knock off shit. I really don't like the idea of sending payment to a place named "Bass Tokoyo" or such. Also related, any experience with the Shimano 20 SLX DC? It comes in at a lower price point but I have no idea how it compares to the Curado DC. ETA: Possibly making things more difficult than needed trying to save $50-$75.

The hg vs xg is just a gearing change. Shimano differentiates that with those letters. As far as JDM vs US...some guys love and swear by the JDM stuff. They "say" it is higher quality, casts better etc. The issue I have (and why I have not tried them out) is the warranty process. If its a true jdm model, warranty wont be handled stateside. Doesnt make sense to me, but it is what it is. I personally dont own any DC's (not a huge fan) ,but a ton of guys in my club have them as do some friends. Ive heard good things about the SLX DC, but for me, personally...if Im spending that much I am buying what I want. |

My intent is a primary musky reel. I've been using a friend's for the last week and it's a great reel. Musky fishing is a new game for me, LM Bass is my niche. Big baits and braid is new territory for me. And it seems that the baits get bigger every time I hit the fishing section. What started as 3"-4" baits is quickly leading to 7"-12" baits.  Thanks again for your input. |
