Hey guys, I posted quite awhile ago on the boat rebuild I was doing. Got the boat from my grandfather after he passed away. I decided to fix it up a little bit ( new floor wood, new carpet , updated switches etc). I also put a new bilge pump in but during installation I noticed the ejection hose for the bilge runs up to an opening on the transom. It looks like it will shoot the water onto the ledge of transom and gravity will drain it. Does this seem right? I'd post pics but no longer a member. Not sure if the pics work

Well, it's not the ideal place for the bilge to discharge, but it works as long as the drain holes are clear and the motor well is sealed. I've seen where the seal along the transom is not good and most of the water pumped into the well just runs back into the bilge. I'll try to find some pics to illustrate what I'm talking about. |

I agree it's not optimal. If I were re-doing the boat, I'd re-locate the discharge port to the side of the hull well above the water line. There should also be a loop in the discharge hose just before the hose connects to the thru-hull fitting. |
