| I'm looking at building an ammo can stove for a trip I'm planning later this year, and I need to come up with options. My usual tent is a rain fly over my hammock, but that gets pretty drafty when anywhere but in the hammock, so that'll be the backup plan. I have a normal, boring 10x12 tent that has more than enough room, and I've used it down to the 20s, but that required a 20 lb propane tank every 4-5 days. So is it feasible to add a stove jack to a nylon tent, or is canvas absolutely required? I plan to add loops to the wall so I can hang a fire blanket behind the stove, and put it on a silicone mat, in the hope of not burning myself down in the middle of nowhere. |
| There are stove jack kits on amazon and Walmart but there are all chinesym. Montana Canvas offers a replacement Stove Jack The one they have is the same as my Montana Canvas Spike tent, which has lasted me for ten years. |

Stainless stove w/ pipe $99. Spark arrestor The stainless tent stove come with pipe and for what they cost for the low end ones it makes more sense than building one from an ammo can because of the time involved to make it . |

Yeah, the more I look at stuff on Amazon, the more I understand how expensive even scrap steel has gotten. It would cost more to build one, plus a lot of time I'd rather not spend welding when it's 105° in the shade. |

I have a bunch more figuring to do, some of which includes figuring out how to detach the thing from the frame so I can get it to the machine. |
