Here in Montana you can get 14 turkeys a year. I am not planning to surpass 3, at least two of which will be Toms. I am hesitant to schwack the toms that I have immediately around my place, as easy as that would be (I routinely call them to within 25 yards of me without needing a turkey call). So I guess I'll head somewhere else...question is...English longbow (yes, I know how to shoot it) or Beretta 1301 tactical? I don't own any "hunting" shotguns and don't particularly want to spend the money on one. |

Shotguns will always be easier than using a bow. Aim and pull the trigger vs having to draw, hold the weight, line up the shot and release without movement to throw the shot. There is a lot more body movement when shooting a bow. As for the shotgun, if you have chokes then test them with ammo until you find something that patters well out to whatever distance you plan to shoot a turkey. |

Don’t do it… It’s a sickness!!!! You’ll be hooked! If you’ve never been, I’d recommend the shotgun to get a few under your belt. It’s easy to wound and lose with archery. But, tons do get tagged with archery every yr. Use a sharp broadhead and learn the anatomy for a clean kill. Don’t expect a huge bloodtrail! And good luck!!! |
