Friends and "Boys" American Night Hunters, what do you think of this brand new Hornady .22 Creedmoor caliber? This exceptional commercial ammunition has the flattest trajectory in the world! I've been shooting mine for a little over a year. It is a flat shooting, hard hitting round. I have it in a stupidly accurate Horizon Vandal, with an AB Raptor suppressor and Pulsar Thermion Duo DXP55 scope. I like the 80 grain Hornady ELD-X. I have not tried any hand loads. I have killed quite a few coyotes and feral hogs with it. The largest hog so far weighed 362 lbs. The longest shot was 337 yards. "The best" is very subjective. I like it, and will continue to hunt with it. |

Peterson Brass with Horizon Firearms developed it years ago. Hornady partnered with them to load ammo about two years ago. It is a great cartridge, but doesn't do much more than a .220 Swift or .22-250 with a different twist rate and shooting heavier bullets. However, I won't discount the cartridge's performance at all. It is everything you would want for a coyote cartridge. Reloading for the .22 Creedmoor is the only way to really see the cartridge's true potential. This is a Badger I shot while testing the factory 69 grain ELD-VT Hornady ammo with my .22 Creedmoor AR10.

I was finally able to take my 22 Creedmoor out hunting. It was a tough night with temps below zero. I'm really digging my Zermatt action and this new 22 Creedmoor. The shooting is flat and recoil wasn't noticeable. Oh and the impacts are amazing in thermal. A video of the only coyote shot that night.  Coyote single with 22 Creedmoor (Wait for the splatter) |

I use 6.5 CM. I shoot a 95gr vmax going around 3,300 FPS. Ammo and components (at least brass) are much easier and cheaper to find. I can usually hold dead on out to 375 and drop them. Most are DRT. Most of the hits look like a grenade went off inside them. Here is one where I could see about 8" into his chest cavity. Attached File Another where his chest was pretty much gone. Attached File |
