My favorite event. It’s the first event I got into when I got licensed. The QSL cards are awesome mini history lessons. I’ve gotten all 13 colonies and William Penn for the last five years. I just can’t seem to get through the pile ups for France or GB. And I usually have one or two of the colonies that takes me right up to the last day to get. It always seems that NJ is the hardest to make contact. I’ve wondered if they have the fewest operators. Thanks for the reminder OP. |

Got three US stations this morning without trying. I forgot it started this morning and ran across one in NC, then got two more when I started to look. One, NH, was a cluster of idiots trying to contact him. I suspect it is because he is a good operator and has a good setup and was covering a lot of ground. People calling over him, being dumba$$es. Almost comical. Almost. Now to add the GB and French stations to HamAlert! |

I worked all 13 Colonies on SSB along with two bonus stations, GB13COL and WM3PEN. I worked the TM13COL on FT4.  I heard the French station multiple times, but never could break the pileup on SSB. |

Every so often I would check the pileup. I heard him calling #3s, then he went to #4s, my call sign, a minute later, and I got him. I never would have broken the pileup of high power stations on SSB without him doing that. Awesome! I’m down to GA and NJ. I might not sweep the Colonies this year. Currently listening on 14255 with a bunch of qsb. I did hear a NM and AZ station call. So maybe I’ve got a chance. I head back to work today. Only a couple of hours available. Edit: K2G QSO. | I worked a bunch of them including the wm3pen bonus station on CW from my mobile station (parked at rest) I didn't keep a good count of them. It is always so much easier to work stations on CW than SSB. It is not just because the advantage in signals on CW over SSB but the fact there is so much less competition on CW than SSB. |

I've got a few, but I'll be damned if I can get a complete QSO with any of the 13 C's or the World Cup event stations. meanwhile I scored Lebanon (OD5KU) and Dodecanese (SV5AZK) tonight, to my surprise. |

There was less than one hour left of the event when I got home from work and I managed to make contact with NJ on 20m. I must’ve been the only one to answer his cq that he could hear. I had to do a lot of knob fiddling to reduce the crackling static. That was a tough 13 this year due to conditions for the last couple of days. No bonus stations. WM3PEN is the only one I’ve gotten before. |
| I had my wife's nephew and his wife visiting and they were interested in seeing what ham radio could do. So, I was on 20m just spinning the dial and heard the guy calling. Was able to get him right away. The wife's relatives were suitably impressed especially when they realized how far away that particular station was. |
