@leafinthewind and I agreed to do ours tonight instead of the morning, so I opened mine up a little bit ago before I'd had so much eggnog I can't be trusted around sharp objects  Dog is interested in the frozen rodentia…  …only to learn she's been deceived.  Gotta check for bombs, looks like we're in the clear.  Awesome goodies for the BoB:  She refuses to take a side in the age-old battle.  And a tasty-looking beverage and a thumbdrive of survival ebooks to round it out!  Great stuff, our host is extremely generous! I’ll add a photo later, but one piece of gear I’ve never treated myself to is a good pair of gloves. I run through work gloves, and keep a stash of Mechanix around as to not be without, but those suck in the cold, and especially in the wet cold. I hate the cold, maybe that’s why I’ve never had good gloves. I almost hope it gets cold here. Almost. Socks (alpaca!) look super legit, another thing that I’ve never treated myself to is nice wool socks. There is a set of alpaca wool gloves too, these are small enough to disappear in my console until I need them. And thanks for including something for little JimPope! He’s going out to help set up land nav points tomorrow for a group FTX we’re running in a couple weeks. He’s going to love having his own compass. Attached File The apple butter and venison jerky I made, the brandy is from a good buddy’s local distillery. A couple guys in here have gotten different products of his over the years, definitely worth checking out Spirit Lab Distilling if you’re ever in the Charlottesville area. That little streamlight is what I pocket carry daily, someone (can’t recall which one of you) gave me one years ago and it’s so much better than my phone light because at 1/80th the cost to replace, it doesn’t matter if I drop it or lose it. It’s also got the reverse clip which makes it a hands free head lamp if you’re wearing a billed cap. Great exchange, I’m letting wife sleep in so once she’s up I’ll grab a photo of my sweet loot that’s in my bedroom now. Thanks, and Merry Christmas! Jim |
