I love how their little back legs just PUSH them as close as they can get... LOL... Too cute... Their little legs pretty much keep moving as they jockey around to keep their position on the nipple. Piglets can be VERY insistent. I watched the four piglets from the older litter harass their mom until she finally gave up, flopped down and let them nurse. She was pretty clearly mildly annoyed but her pigs are almost ready to wean. I picked up one of her piglets yesterday and he started screaming. She only briefly lifted her head from her dinner. Three weeks ago I'd have had a lapful of angry sow.

Regarding fence, I have two strands of "IntelliTwine" from Premier, on T posts & insulators with a Tractor Supply 20 mile charger. One or two whacks & my pigs won't get near it. Mine are about 80lbs now. I think I'll drop to a single strand & expand their run. So far I'm very happy with the electric fence. |
