Great job, good luck with the additional builds for other club members. Keep us posted on changes in design during the future builds.
I am currently working on a similar setup using the Icom-718 along with Kenwood U/V. I came into a dead stop due to not having the metal working tools I used to have access to. Bill |

This kit goes into action on the 18th of this month, a special event station by the club.
Last week we set up at a nearby high school and gave a demonstration to a high school science class. In a few months there's ARRL Field Day, followed by International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend. So, it will be put to work. |
Where do you store your coax and antennas? I'm running s pelican/Hardigg M2700 and I'm storing a mini G5RV and a N9TAX 2m J-Pole in the bottom. I cut out some of the padding to set them in and my radios tuner and power supply are mounted on a large cutting board on top. I'm looking for ways to make my setup better. Thanks.

Thanks.I don't even attempt to put it all in the case. I have two, and soon to be three cord reels (OK, they are orange) each with 50' of RG-8X. Each one has 5-6 ferrite beads on the end, and a double female SO-239 ("barrel connector") to chain them together. For the antennas themselves, I have two setups. Both use this mast. http://goverticalusa.com/featured/antenna-tripod-29ft-aluminum-portable-tower-mast-kit.html which are just this easy to put up. (Left click to view online, or right click and save.) http://www.arrl.org/files/file/QST%20Binaries/Jun2011/QS0611Dixon.mp4 This mast system is in a rubberized carry bag as you see in the video. It is worth every penny. Depending on available space, I can use either an OCFD, which is kept rolled up, wire legs and balun, in a 1 gal freezer ziplock bag, or a coil loaded fan dipole in a "maypole" configuration. Either antenna will work 75 m - 10 m with minor tuner assist. I put the SKB case and cord reels of coax in the back seat of my truck, and the mast bag back in the bed, and I'm ready to go. In addition, I have two 50w solar panels, charge controller, and 55 AH AGM battery. None of this will fit in the case either. http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_10_22/671603_Portable_power_and_Solar_Charging_Gadgets.html |

Thanks! I'm currently working on some other projects of interest to portable operations. I'll post when done. [repeatedly taps foot on floor] The Hardrock 50 amp was one such project. After a busy year with work, I suddenly find myself retired, and will have more time for ham radio and other endeavors. My calendar is clear into the foreseeable future. |

on top. I'm looking for ways to make my setup better. Thanks.
