Just a quick review of my conversion kit so far. I've put 5 magazines of Federal AutoMatch 40g through from the two magazines I received. I have a fail to feed each time I go from a 10 +1 configuration on the first round out of the 10 round mag, no jams afterwards. If I go from a 9+1, no jams. Advantage gives in the included instructions the preferred ammo and what to stay away from. I prefer to have a few problems as it forces me to think my way through them so I'm going to use whatever ammo causes the most issues for now. Going to try some Blazers and Remington Golden this evening. I've also got some Aguila subsonics I'm going to play with ( expect these to go full jam or FTF) Accuracy with the AutoMatch is MUCH better than I expected. I'm shooting a 3" spinner at 15 yards and hitting it almost every shot. The XDM kit for my 4.5 XDM will not fit my XD 4" frame. The XDM kit will not fit my Safariland holster for the XDM, however, it does perfectly fit in my XD Safriland 4" ALS concealment holster. What I expect to get from this kit: 1. Trigger control, grip, and front sight focus practice. 2. Live fire practice without burning through my 9mm ammo. 3. Reduced recoil and noise to HOPEFULLY get my kid and wife addicted to shooting. I ordered an AR500 plate and T-post hanger kit but am using a small rubber spinner for now. So far I am thrilled with it, mainly because of the accuracy. Once the first round out of the mag jam is over, it's smooth sailing. Looks like the answer is to load 10, cycle 1 into the chamber and rock on. I'm used to loading one in the chamber, releasing the slide and then slapping a full mag in to give me the full 19+1. The kit comes in a nice zippered carry case with all manuals/warranty card. Fit and finish of the slide and internals is decent. Haven't seen anything to complain about. The manual shows the locations to lube the slide internals and firing pin area. Although the slide action is just a little rougher than the XDM slide I fully expect this to break in nicely after a few hundred rounds. I can work with this.  |

This is music to my ears(eyes, whatever), assuming the same can be expected from the XD 4" 22LR conversion kit. I've got an XD40 4" that I've been on the fence on getting the 22 conversion kit, but given the current ammo shortages and my insatiable need to shoot as frequently as my work schedule will allow, doing so in 22LR is BY FAR the more practical solution versus burning up my stock of 40cal ammunition. Thank you for your write-up, it's what I needed to know, and even better from a fellow ARFCOM member, who's insight carries magnitudes more weight than some random review read on just about anywhere to me. Personally I welcome the frequency of jams, FTF, etc... malfunctions that are common(I've come to understand) in many 22LR conversion kits as it's a great way to train for such situations without basically pre-planning them(snap-caps mixed randomly in mags with regular ammo). Thanks again my friend, looking forward to grabbing myself the conversion kit, if I can only remember where I found it, LoL. |

You are quite welcome. Today my wife and 16 year old put around 100 rounds each through them using Blazers and it ran very well. My daughter had this idiotic grin on her face after the first mag, by the end of the second mag she was hitting the 10x12 plate at 20 yards with every shot, I could tell she was gaining confidence. I had her doing reloads of the mag and swapping mags. The springs are significantly less than what the XD/XDM have so she can easily work the slide. I bought mine straight from the AA website and it arrived within a week of ordering. I have two magazines and will probably get another two at some point. Happy shooting! |
