[Last Edit: -Time-]
I'm about to start a precision bolt action rifle build in 300wm and since the siete isn't out I'll have to go with a Remington 700.
Where are the sietes? If it's gonna be another two weeks I'll have to get some gross Remington 700! I want meticulously built bolt actions!!!!! |
|
|
It seems that they are on the back burner, unfortunately.
|
|
|
Why? I ended up getting a Remington 700 and am now saving up again for a Siete. Should I be looking for something else?

Idk, it has been over a year I'd like to see some movement, but haven't lately. |

The siete is a myth.

If you seek to do battle with me this day, you will receive the best that I am capable of giving. It may not be enough, but it will be everything I have to give, and it will be impressive.

Something like Bighorn or a Mausingfield is a much better answer. I am still waiting for the 223 bolt I ordered from Surgeon a couple years ago. |

I'm thinking it would be fun for Mark to put together a little thread telling the story (with pictures) of a Samsquanch hunt with a Siete. This would make for great reading, and add some credibility to the internet lore of both. A.W.D. |

I'm debating between a Defiance in a Manners stock or one of the American Rifle Company (Mausingfield) whole M2 rifles. I wanted to do a 6.5 bolt, but it would be cheaper to cover that with another 7.62 LaRue without much practical use lost. I'll probably bite the bullet and just do 338 for the bolt since I have the can and scope for it. |

Not sure where it is. Figured Tranquillo's were a hot item for a few months, plus everything sbr..., but guess now is just pre-election gitter buying. Perhaps post election, if things calm down (as opposed to go insane), focus will move back. That said, if things go insane, I suspect it will be back burner till every semi they can sell before they are banned.
--- Called LaRue today and was told that wait times on the OBR in 7.62 were 4 months minimum. I can only bet that number will only increase until the election. I really can not see the Seite off the back burner while wait times increase. |

I did a search and this thread (last post in Oct 2016) can't be the most recent mention of "Siete" in a thread title. There must be some deep cleaning going on around here.
For those of us who don't always stay caught up on Instagram - this was encouraging... https://www.instagram.com/p/CbfsOyoJrZz/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link |

Jeez, forget the UU’s then. |

The irony of the ops name starting a siete thread in the all but extinct LaRue forum

Scheels had some good looking Daniel Defense bolt guns today. Know nothing about them.

So I was just dreaming and pontificating.....if and when the Siete ever gets made and sold...what calibers do we think it would be made available in? Would they stick to the .308/6.5CM/.260 realm they already play in or would they consider adding things like (selfishly wishing for) 6.5PRC or .338 or ????
I realize this is all just speculation at this point but what the hell else do we have to talk about? |

What’s crazy to me is a few siete rifles were given out by LaRue years ago as part of a drawing or something like that. I remember Mark posting he didn’t get feedback from the handful he sent out. Sounded like they weren’t diehard LaRueminati. At one point some guys wife who won a siete posted stuff here because she said her husband couldn’t. It was really a awkward attempt.
Someone may remember the circumstances better. But long story short a few made it into the wild and I haven’t seen a single damn thing about them which is annoying. Pick any of the guys here and I bet you’d get tons of feedback. I shoot or hunt just about every week like many of you. It definitely wouldn’t be a safe queen. |

View Quote IIRC, and I don't remember the exact circumstances to wine one of the Sietes you mentioned, but the ones given out may have been Siete pistols? I remember not winning (as usual), but then thinking why would I want a bolt gun pistol? Then again, maybe it was just a bad dream. |
|

IIRC, each NOLO dillo purchased gave you the chance to win a siete. 5 went to the winners of the first 5 rounds. I don't think they've done the drawings for round 6 and 7.

^^^^ ahhh that’s what it was. Nolo prize. Thanks.
Yeah it stinks that no one has posted anything about it. |
|

I'm surprised we haven't seen even one of those five pop up on the secondary market. There's no telling what it would sell for.

I hated going to weddings. All the grandmas would poke me and say "You're next". They stopped that when I started doing it to them at funerals.

I was looking at a GA Precision Crusader then realized I don’t need a bolt gun haha.

I would think right now would be the time to part with one before mark actually starts making them in the next 5 or so years..lol |

I got tired of waiting and finally bought a Defiance action and sourced the rest of the parts for my .308 build. Had Chad at LRI put it all together. It hurt the fun gun budget but I guess it was worth it. I won’t be selling it if the Siete even comes out though…I’ll just buy a Siete |

What is best in life? To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women!

I wouldn't be surprised if Mark shitcanned it entirely.
Siete would have to be something really special feature or price wise for me to consider one. Too many feature-rich actions and pre-fits out there these days |

Much depends on how accurate you want the rifle to be. Remington 700 style actions are probably the most popular type action on the PRS circuit. However, if you are thinking of starting off with a Remington 700 accurate and having it trued up, and work done to it to make it as accurate as possible, you would probably be saving money by just buying an action from someone like Surgeon, Defiance or one of the other custom action manufacturers.
The actions ARE more expensive to begin with, but by the time you get all the custom work done to a Remington 700 action it is almost always cheaper in the long run to order a precision action to begin with. I don't intend any insult of the Remington action as they are popular for a number of good reasons. It all depends on how accurate you want the rifle to be, and what you intend to do with it. |

Well, given that the only ones that are not owned by Mark would be a couple preproduction models (Mark offered one as a raffle once I think)-I assume the price would be "interesting".
Not sure how large or how complete the ones that were built when Mark was saying 2 more weeks are. I got the impression that several hundred were at least partially made. I saw one at a show a little over 2 years ago. Went to the same show this year and they did not even bother to bring it. |
