Operation Red Wings - 6/28/2025 Considered one of the greatest losses in the SOF community and darkest day in SEAL history. June 28th, 2025 marks the 20th anniversary of Operation Red Wings. Among those killed was U.S. Navy SEAL Shane Patton, a native of Boulder City, Nevada and the final SEAL missing a memorial at home. Those days are over, as the memorial statue was completed and unveiled Saturday 6/28/2025, at 4pm.  Shane was killed during a quick reaction force infiltration in support of Operation Red Wings when the CH-47 Chinook he was riding in with sixteen other US Navy SEALS and Army aviators was shot down. The son of a SEAL, Shane was doing what the Pattons do best…going to the sound of the guns. When TNVC’s founder, Victor DiCosola, a proud supporter of our US Military’s warriors and a good friend of Shane’s father, James Patton, heard of this he pledged to support the Shane Patton Foundation to see this effort through to completion. We had Marcus Luttrell stop by last Thursday and gave him a special peek of the memorial. Nevada Govenor Joe Lombardo was at the unveiling yesterday, (a former LEO) was always great to see and talk to. 2 Nellis AFB F-16's did a low high speed pass and full burner vertical climb above the stage from approx. 1000ft to 10K in about 3 seconds. They broke the sound barrier a few miles away! After that a 4 ship local Bouder City air crews did a missing man formation! It was an amazing day and tribute to Shane, his family and Mil members who lost their lives on this horrific day. NEVER FORGET |
