Hey, I'm about to install one of your free float combat rail handguards and I was wondering if any sort of thread locker should be used on the two 10-32 x 1/2 retention screws that go through the torque plate? The instructions don't say specifically to use anything so I thought I should ask.

Do not use. The hand guard has stainless thread inserts . We have never had the screws loosen and you could pull the inserts if you remove the hand guard. If we wanted it done it would be on the instructions. Best Regards Troy MI |

That's why I thought it was best to ask, because if it wasn't specifically in the instructions there must be a good reason. Everything else in the instructions seemed very thorough, to include exactly where the moly grease should be applied for the barrel nut. One last thing I noticed reading the instructions is that the standard tech manual torque procedure for the barrel nut (torque 3 times to 30 Ft-Lbs) was not mentioned. Should I still do that before going to the recommended 40 foot pounds, or just skip the 3 time torque procedure? Thanks again! |
