I have a Tikka 308 that I would like to have the barrel cut to 18" and threaded. Is that doable on this rifle or is the barrel too thin? Attached File Thanks in advance.  what's the OD of the barrel where you want the threads? It may be fine. It may need a shoulder, or it may need 1/2 x 28 threads. |

| take a pair of calipers and measure the diameter of the barrel at the point you want to cut it, give them the measurement, and see what they say about it. You could also go back to 16" to get it slightly thicker if losing another 50fps isn't a deal breaker. You might need their "build up a shoulder" service. |

I had my T3 .308 with a sporter barrel cut to 18" last year. It needed to be threaded to 1/2x28, but I have a "top hat" 5/8x24 adapter that fits over for my .30 cal brake/suppressor mount. Zero issues with the adapter coming loose (rocksett) and concentricity is fine. I think the absolute minimum for 5/8x24 is 0.625", but the shop still recommended going 1/2x28 on mine at 0.650", which also happened to be at 18". There are 1/2x28 .30 cal suppressor mounts out there as well A local shop in Eastern PA did it for $145  |
