Could I pick your brain for a moment before I start semi-randomly changing parts? I've got a 10mm DI that likes to stovepipe on me. When it stovepipes, it still manages to strip the next round out of the mag and get it started into the chamber before getting tied up. I've tried both 180 grain Magtech (you're right on that, it really doesn't like the lower powered ammo) & Sellier and Bellot 180 grain. The S&B stovepipes a lot less. To make things even more interesting, I'm running a Maxim Defense brace with the standard weight buffer/spring. I'm thinking of putting a heavy weight buffer/spring in to try and low the action down a bit? But wanted to ask someone who actually knows what he's doing first. Also Don't know if you make barrels in house or where you source them from, but you put real nice barrels in these things. This one will pretty easily do palm sized groups at 50 yards with me more worried about chasing stovepipes than being super sniper guy. Thanks Gary Attached File |

Have you tried a no weight buffer.....? If it continues....we might look at the extractor more closely......can you send a close up pic of the bolt face showing the extractor? |

| See if you can get some SIG elite.....if that runs without issue.....then try the no weight buffer and get back to me....if you like just call me at the shop.... |

I’ll take the Sig ammo for a spin. It does seem like hotter ammo works better to be honest.
Here’s a couple of pics of the bolt, the extractor is there and has spring tension, so does the ejector. I don’t know enough to be real useful in diagnosing but I’ll try and help. Attached File Attached File |

| Don't see anything obvious......if you clip a round in the bolt pocket and depress the ejector.....does it flip it out with force? |

It’s looking like a lighter buffer is the trick.
I pulled the internal weight out of the Maxim normal buffer and things are running happier. I’ve only ran 50 rounds of S&B HP 180grn and 50 rounds of Magtech 180grn ball, but no hiccups. Now if I could just get the Kriss 45acp mag adapters to work with 10mm as well. |

As to getting a Kriss mag extension to work with G20 mags is straight forward the main issue is the transition from extension to mag. You need to blend that transition on the mag so the spring/ rounds don't catch/hang up on it. If done correctly the G20 mag can be returned to normal without any issues. It is a grind and test process but can be done with hand tools. There are several videos on the internet that show the process. |

Yep, I'm planning on tearing things down this weekend to see if I can notice any odd looking wear inside from running an extra light buffer.
I've got some more file work on the transition point between the Kriss extension and the bottom of the Glock mag, it wants to hang up a bit still. 30 rounds of 10mm has some weight to it, bet 25-30 rounds of 45acp would be even more so. Wonder how much weight you should really put on the mag catch? |
