The Patent Pending MA-38800 Ripley Rail features an aluminum integral carry handle with front and rear AR-15 iron sights, and the ability to mount an AR-15 carry handle scope or scope rail. The aluminum forend features generous M-LOK slots and a polymer foregrip completes the look! It mounts easily to your AR-15 with A3 upper receiver (or most any AR-15 upper with picatinny on top), and completely free floats over the entire barrel. It will clear any barrel nut up to 1.6" in diameter (including a milspec barrel nut with delta ring removed), is compatible with most piston systems, and will sleeve over a suppressor up to 1.6" in diameter, although we recommend 1.5" diameter max for proper cooling spacing. The Ripley Rail is designed to work with rifle caliber barrels 10.3" or longer and blowback pistol caliber barrels 11" or longer, but you can use shorter barrels with a suppressor or muzzle extension as long as the open end of the muzzle is in front of the end of the forend. Carry handles come finished in either H-232 Magpul OD Green or F-102 Carbon Black Cerakote, and the forend is finised in H-337 Platinum Cerkoate. I wonder how well it will sell. In the past I would have said that it seems to expensively for the target audience, but I have no clue for the current market. I feel like a lower cost all plastic one (tapco style) would have sold well in the past. |

An injection plastic mold to make this would be likely close to six figures, so it wouldn't save any money, it actually would make the product more expensive short of selling tens of thousands, and it would likely feel pretty chintzy. I am curious as well if we hit the mark for a target audience.  We have seen a few people say "oh, I'll just copy it and 3D print it" and they are going to learn some things... The proof of concept parts were 3D printed in polymer to check fitment, appearance, etc. polymer simply won't hold up to the forces imparted by hanlding or even just laying on its side, it will warp and deflect with load put on it. As of now, it has to be metal. The machine cycle time and labor to put these together ia pretty intense, so we aren't making gobs of money on these. I view it more as a boutique market product built to a very high standard that is both fun, and does actually have some practical use (built in front and rear irons, and can mount a carry handle AR-15 scope). Given how large the area under the barrel is inside the handguard, I wonder if you could create an internal WML mount, so that the light is hidden inside the handguard with just the tip of the light peeking out beneath the barrel, activated by tapeswitch, similar to the old Surefie MP5 forend?

I was thinking of doing a 9x39 VSS inspired build, I think your rail will be just the ticket, 8 inch barrels with AB reflex cans that will tuck in under I have a green gen 1 and then 2 Hera stock... Now the question is... Do I really want to spend ANOTHER 1k on a pet project? |

The Raptor 10 had an OD of 1.625, will that tuck under? I have an SLR SD rail that works well for this, but yours is a different look to it too |

Sven Manticore Arms I was thinking about those old ferfrance smgs where he welded a front sight to the M16 carry handle upper. A match style rear sight with finer adjustment could sort out the windage issue. Have an complete iron sight package for mini-sbrs all fitting in the carry handle.
