Not trying to cut anyone out, It just would be nice to dream about coming to the party. After all, I'm in the communist state of CT. Shooting here is difficult & the only (200yd)range somewhat nearby is now closed If I could I would love to take some vacation time & do some hog or other varmint control shooting. But untill that dream happens, I will just enjoy the pics. BTW Mark, my wife stole my dillo! She says it's cute. Never heard then refered to as cute! At least she brings me my cold drinks opened. |

VLODPG Quite a bit of New Mexico is BLM land, which is open to the public. You ever get a chance to leave the chains of communism, bring it. Till that happens I have a new LaRue rifle that I will try and provide you with lotsa varmint dreams!You can seriously go days without seeing another human being if you desire. Mark, this is all you need to know!  Welcome to the Deming Municipal Airport. Located 67nm west of El Paso, Texas, and 185nm east of Tucson, Arizona, Deming enjoys 360 days of VFR each year and relief from the crowded skies found around its larger neighbors. Access to the IFR system is a phone call away. The principal 6000' runway (8/26) has 1500' overruns and covers 80% of the prevailing winds while the secondary runway (4/22) at 5700' covers all but 2% of the remaining conditions. In 1995, a new modern terminal with passenger and crew facilities was established on the north side of the airport. Fast turnaround fueling is provided from three fuel service trucks and a state of the art fuel delivery system. Line service is provided by professionally trained personnel. A conference room with a capacity for 70 is provided for the use of the traveling businessman. Over 10,000 square feet of hangar space is available for transient aircraft and an up-to-date 5,000 square foot repair facility is available with two A/I's leading a factory trained staff. Nearly 300 acres of land surrounding the aeronautical surface are available for lease and development, with 50 acres available along a 75' concrete apron with taxiways to three of the four runways. An 18-hole municipal golf course lies just over the boundary fence. |

Gotta guy in Alamogordo you need to meet! Old F-4 pilot and an IPSC shooter. Has some cool photos of a main gear going bad on landing. When asked if he said Oh S&%$, his response was "I didnt have time!" He gets to fly a little for the .Gov still. |

Here are some pics. The first one is of my Reece when I first got it. I changed it a little since then. The only thing the same in on it now is the barrel, gas block, scope, and bolt. The second pic is the the gun now. The rest is pics of hunting. The guy all bundled up is my brother pre-USMC. The hostage target was shot at 525 yards with the Surgeon .308. Alva, Ok is where we go to shoot long range. We can shoot out to 2000 yards there.           |
Another charging bunny. Managed to find 4 rattlesnakes today. No pics of those because they freak me the hell out. Thought I would throw in a pic of the old Bronco after it has been Arfcommed and LaRued and clean. After the rains we have had it does not look like that anymore.   |

 Took my wife hunting to see if she could get her first deer. She's afraid to shoot anything that kicks harder than a 2 year old so I loaded up some 60gr nosler partitions for my AR and instructed her on shot placement for a neck shot. When this small 8-point came out early in the hunt I decided I should show her how it's done first. One shot to the neck dropped him in his tracks. 30 minutes later another deer stopped right over this one and it was her turn. She cracked under the pressure and cleanly missed him. I guess it's back to the range for old wifey . Dillo in the crosshairs.

I thought when using a scope with nv, the nv has to be behind the scope? The image you see through nv is not like looking through a standard piece of glass, it is kinda like a computer generated image? Thus your scope crosshairs wouldnt actually be on the target, right???

Thats what I keep hearing. I have no problems but havnt stretched it real far out. My buddie is in the CORPS and he is issued a MK12 SPR and its made to attach the PVS14 (NOT 22) the SAME way. They have engaged targets out to 400 at night using PEQ-15.I know its not supposed to work but it does. I am not assuming or guessing, I have used it, it works. I have the mount that goes behind the scope but it puts my eye relief to far back. It sucks. |

My most recent trip. I went Arkansas on a hunt. Shot 2 cats and the buck. Used a 75gr BTHP. Deer ran/death walked about 25 yards.
I have switched from KAC URX back to the Larue 13.2 and a Larue stealth upper reciever. Love it. Thanks Mark for some sweet products!

Sorry Mark, I was still new to the world of the EBR when I picked off these ladies... but that is a LaRue branded Troy iron sight. (Hard to call it a BUIS when its your primary.) By the way, I was duck hunting when we killed these. The last 5 were killed from the gunner seat of a an Air Ranger.

hmm hadn't seen this thread before, but I happen to have some pics I took with my phone from one day I was killin bunnys back in July.
seems like a great day to kill some bunnys 
compliments of a LT BCG, and LT-103. One of these guys I hit from about 65 yards while he was running.

Wish I had a pic of the one that was bisected. As I walked up I thought I had shot 2 rabbits, but it was just the front and back, about 6 feet away from each other. |

cwebbcam, there are three dogs on the ranch and Rowdy, red heeler, is by far the best behaved though she has killed a goat or two and another dog. . She will sit there on the 4wheeler or ranger until we say get off. on the other hand Shooter a lab, cattalouha mix has to be atleats 50yrds ahead of us at all time for miles on end, he is till young though. All three of them have been in fights with hogs, porcupines, cattle, goats, racoons and who knows what else. I love the heeler type dogs, I have a blue named Moon and she is a sweetie, but a city slicker so she stays at home.
Lootershooter, I used Prvi 193 on both my hogs, the big one was a lung shot and dropped him on the run. The smaller hog was shot straight through the snout as he was looking at me he turned and flopped down dead.. I didn't find exit wounds on either. I have shot others that ran off never to be seen again. I would say bullet choice and placement has alot to do with how/why you hunt. I'm hunting to thin the numbers so I am always motorized and with most shots taken both I and the hog are moving. If they run off and die or flop down right there it doesn't really matter. If you are going after meat I would still use a 55gr or maybe a 75gr and put the bullet right behind the ear or lower front part of shoulder. Lots of good info in the hog hunting forum here. |
just becasue you can shoot well does not mean you will fight well when the time comes. Get trained!
