Has anyone considered using a dremel tool to remove the Colt web block material in the lower reciever to accommodate after market trigger cassettes and or frt devices? Nothing illegal of course. Solutions are a dremel, an 80% jig or go all out and have a machinist do the milling. I thought I had recently saw here, a Colt lower that didn't even have that pesky web block? Attached File |

Get yourself an up spiral bit for milling aluminum... I used a 1/4" bit and made a few passes along the one side and then finished up along the other side...watch for the bite as it will want to dig in as you move across the direction the bit is moving in. Alumahyde works well. All said and done, I had a few lowers milled inside an hour and recoated. |

I think OP's goal is having a Pony riding lower for pew pew pew pew pew.... Isn't that all pony lovers want? I sure want one if I have the skill and tool. But I agree that it is just not something you want to mess with if you don't already have adequate tool. Lower is a firearm, a machinist without 01 or 07 FFL cannot touch your lower. |

Over thinking this...the process to remove the web is pretty straight forward. I used an up spiral bit and a real old heavy drill press to get it done. I had a vise with a table that moves on the X and Y axis which made it even easier to get done. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. |

If he don't, not something to buy a drill press just for one or two jobs. |

Registered receivers can be cost prohibitive or even obsolete for the majority. Depending on your state law, now a person can legally pew pew very fast, shoot faster than they might need in most practical situations and ALL for under $300 (forced reset tech). The ammo is really the expense to run your gun. No need for a transferable when you can FRT. |

On that A4 there was a minor "oops" as you noted, though far less than what it appears. Shit happens. The burrs aren't burrs. It's crap. I opened it up, didn't wipe it and used my shitty camera. The 6920s came out just fine. In the long run just remember that it's a Colt, it's a tool and it functions just fine. It's not the fucking Mona Lisa. |
