So I had bought some of this custom print canvas to skin these Kywi mag pouches with 3M Super77 or Clifton UR1087... it's polyester outdoor canvas. It might be D600 Cordura(?) - it's a hair lighter feeling than the Esstac material, but poly cordura is always lighter feeling than nylon cordura. I figured once laminated to the real thing with the fabric wrapped around the top/bottom edge openings and tucked up under the kydex it'd be plenty tough. Truthfully, it needs to be a hair "bluer" to match the carriers we got perfectly (it's a tad bit too turquise/teal) but good enough, IMO. I guess my monitor color guessing/matchign skills are no good. Anyways, I can send some of this canvas to Esstac if you want to see if they can make new pouches out it ... I just need to know how much they'd need for a single/double/triple kywi Attached File |

My dad came back from Taiwan/Vietnam in 1967 and we went to Minot AFB for 3 years before he went back over there again. I was a big kid, for my age (11/12). Dad brought back a set of tiger stripe jungle fatigues and jump boots that fit me perfect. I used to wear them to school fairly often. Thought they looked cool as hell. One of the boots squeaked pretty bad. Sometimes I wonder what happened to those fatigues and boots after I outgrew them a year or so later. I guess those Vietnamese, or Taiwanese/Chinese were a bit on the small side. Everything dad brought back in 1971 was just OD green (jungle fatigues.), no camoflage of any type. And jungle boots. We wore those fishing. I still have one of the shirts. Showed it to a buddy of mine from work that was in Vietnam in 71 or 72 and he said it brought back a lot of memories. Not all good. |
