I would be very surprised if someone that doesnt work at colt knows anymore about the plans for the hybrid then you do already form rumors or some add meant to get people or possible LE/Gov agencies to noticve colt CAN make it if they show intrest in it I would say that is all you are seeing anyway. Sure colt can make it, and they will show it off to agencies that may want them and have the money to buy something like that. but its more of a "look at what we can do if you want" kinda thing, just like the SCW or the KAC PDW KAC shows it all over but has made none for commercial sale and no agency has actually bought any as far as a I know, unless its happend in ther last 6-8 months but tis the same kinda thing, and I would bet that if no one that m,atters to colt gives a shit for a hybrid, you will see it fade away just liek the 1020 did back when they 1st showed it but then the army said , meh not interested in a piston right now thats about all I am going to say on the hybrid 901 in this thread unless we see it turn up for sell or added to colts website for sale. so no hard feelings please, and please post as much fact specs on the 901 we know is real in here as you want. but try to cut out the asking about hybrids and how do they work and how much do we think it will cost and when will the hybrid be out kinda stuff guys, because if anyone finds out, it will be on here within 20 seconds without anyone needing to ask in a thread or start a thread asking, |

The whole swapping uppers thing is not all that appealing, so I want something that rocks. I have come to expect this from Colt and I hope they deliver. Also this is not a discussion thread, so we should not continue a discussion about this here. If we the collective want to discuss our likes and dislikes about the 901, a new thread should be started. And yes I am guilty of this myself.

I meant to measure it at Shot Show but got all flustered in it's presence...
What is the measured length of the handguard itself? I think I counted 19 rail slots but was curious if anyone had a measurement from front of HG to where a normal upper receiver would begin? I'm guesstimating in the 10" range... |

(sharp eyes will notice the yellow SHOT 2012 tag still on the trigger guard.) Being I barely had 24 hour notice that the gun was available, I scrambled to gather some gear and ammo for it. I brought 300 rounds of some hot 147gr German ball, an Aimpoint Comp M4S with a magnifier, both in LT mounts, a Leupy Mk4 and an Atlas V8 bipod. And an OBR...just because. ;) We did not have the 5.56 upper conversion but I did finally get to see how it was engineered and I have to say it is pretty cool but I'll leave it to the experts to sign off on it or not down the road. Interesting concept though. The rifle was very well built. I didn't care for the Vltor stock but that's easy to change. The trigger was a very good single stage, nothing fancy but again upgradable if you wish as is the A2 grip. The mag release and bolt release are ambi but the selector/safety is not. The upper is truly monolithic and from what I was told is machined out of an impressive size forging. The sights are a Matech rear and quite possibly the heaviest duty folding front I have ever seen. Peering through the rail, the barrel appears to be of a medium contour. I forgot to ask the twist rate. This was a 16" model. I didn't weigh it because I really don't get wound up about that stuff. I think it is light and well balanced for a battle rifle. Of course, I'm not lugging it up a mountain in Afghanistan or across a desert in Iraq. But even for a carbine class, this shouldn't be a burden loaded and with an optic. If it is, gyms are everywhere and pretty cheap right now. P90X seems effective too. Slapping on the bipod, I shot with irons, the Aimpoint with and without the magnifier and the Mk4. I only shot at steel plates at 100 yds so no groupings to talk about. Recoil was mild. Once everything was dialed in, the steel was consistently ringing. Had a couple of hiccups in the form of short stroking but in taking the rifle apart I found it to be bone dry. Little lube and it was fine. | I am new to the site. It rocks by the way. Can anyone tell me the deal with nesek guns? they told me on friday that the wait for an LE901 was 6-12 month wait. The problem I have with them is they want all my money for the gun and will not refund me if I find the gun sooner. what do you all think? What if Buds gun shop gets it sooner? Buds is the biggest gun shop in the U.S. Also, they will probably show up on gunbroker as soon as colt gets them out. Can someone give me some insight please? Maybe I am missing something. thanks in advance. |
