CM762 arrived and it is exactly what I wanted. This would be my fourth, so I've handled the three previous versions and still have 2 of them. Honestly I was kind of just kicking myself while waiting for delivery for not just buying a SCAR-H and being done with the 901 and all the proprietary parts. But I really like it, and will just sell the AR901 to defray the cost. Total was $2100.50 shipped. Next step is to throw about $3k in parts, optics and suppressor at it. Notable upgrades are magpul pro sights, change in upper design, ambi charging handle is very nice, ambi safety, notched cut for rail. upgrades already in the mail or ready to go are vortex razor E, throw lever, defender caps, geissele mount, SA adjustable gas block, omega suppressor w 51t MAAD, larue mbt, surefire m300, arisaka mount, magpul miad and triggerguard, atlas bipod, radian talon 45 safety, magpul sling mount, 51t brakeout, VCAS sling. Picked up my CM762 last night. Deal was just to good to pass up.
This seems to be a well built rifle and can't wait to see what it will do. The trigger guard ears were scrapped up but the finish everywhere else looks really good. The upper has a square forge mark and is not stamped C or have a cage code. Bolt carrier is marked C and bolt MPC. Gun is roll marked and not engraved. Pic:

Kind of an old thread to resurrect, but the prices on the CM762-16S have suddenly fallen. I picked one up a couple of weeks ago for $1500 and you can now get them for around $1300.
As far as accuracy, I've only had it out twice, but I'm getting 1 to 1.25" 5-shot groups at 100 yards with Federal Gold Medal 168s - I expect I could do better if I took my time, waited for a calm day, and maybe tried the groups at the beginning instead of the end of 80 round sessions. Old delinked LC M80 comes in at just under 2". 160 trouble free rounds so far. Very consistent 3 o'clock ejection of M80 and the Federal 168s. The only thing I've done was install an ACT trigger and plop on a Leupold 4-12x. If I had paid $2200 for the rifle, I would have been satisfied. At $1500, I'm *very* happy. For $1300, this is a no brainer... |

Picked up my CM762-16 today. Like several other owners reported, it came in the standard Colt box with a factory tag indicating that it has an 18" barrel, when it fact it is a 16" barrel. Overall fit is fine except it was missing a roll pin from the ambi-bolt release lever on the right side, but I replaced that myself when I got home. Finish is fine, typical Colt with small scuffs here and there. Nothing deep, but if you are a Colt owner, you know what I mean. Lower is rollmarked (MCC005xxx) and has all ambi controls (mag, bolt, safety). Upper has a square forge mark and no C. Carrier has a light "C" mark. Barrel marked 308 WIN with a "C", gas block has 2 screws and is also pinned. The MLOK rail seems well made and has no T-marks on the top rail or manufacturer marks anywhere, only the white COLT billboard on both sides. Very smooth, no sharp edges. Aligned straight and seems very solid. It came with the VLTOR stock, Front & Rear Magpul Pro sights, 1x PMAG 20LR, plus some cheap cleaning gear (multi-piece rod and bore brush), and a user manual showing the 16" and a 13" SBR model. Will update when I get to the range with it, but so far it looks good. |

Yeah, I have two Colts - the 6920-Trooper is pretty nice, although the Charging handle was broken in half in the rifle - made clearing the weapon a chore at the FFL, but otherwise it didn't have anything else major.
This CM762-16 was a tad worse - the lower was fine, but the upper rail had various scuffs from installation. |

Colt 901 and Beretta ARX-100 are my thing the last couple years.

Thanks for any info! taking it out shooting this week sometime at 100m. my barrel date is 2016. my serial is in the 6k range. lower roll marked receiver extention was staked loose. i had to reinstall but no biggie. shit happens. had the wrench already. ok, here's the initial opinion. the parts look the part. if you are old school colt, you know what I mean. it has the milspec look that you dont get with other brands. it looks and feels like it could have been the SCAR. i think that if colt would have offered the SE instead of the quad rail, maybe they would have won. at that time, everyone was looking for high speed and the quad rail is chunky. if you buy the SE, change out three things to get under 8lbs. 1. swap heavy ass smith for a2 flash hider. 2oz 2. swap vltor stock for bcm gunfighter. 1oz 3. hogue 15 degree grip. 1.5oz If it can hold a 10rd group close to 1moa, it will become my goto. we shall see. it's rumored to be a shooter. |

It looks like some of the newer 901s have separate handguards instead of the monolithic upper. Are these replaceable at all or are the choices limited to just what's in the box?
I've heard production on these has ended which has lit a fire to finally decided on now or never! |

Anyone tried or using a gripod? Good, bad, indifferent? Anyone using an Atlas bipod? Good, bad, indifferent? Any preferred VFG's? How is anyone configuring the rails on the 16SE? I have KAC rail covers now, I did read where some users were modifying their KAC covers and attaching directly to the monolithic upper. Is anyone using fillers or the ladders on the rails? How's that working out for you? I'll sort all this out on my own eventually, interested what anyone else has gone through and how you've settled into your configuration. Thanks! |

For the SE, I just ran a single rail on the bottom front for mounting a bipod. I had my scout light mounted on a Thorntail mount off the top rail. |

| I’m going to convert my current Marc 901 to shoot heavy division for 3gun. I have a surefire socom brake on there and I was wondering if anyone had success with taming the recoil even more than just a brake. Not sure if I want to try an adjustable gas block on it. |

I do use ladder covers on all pic sections that aren't used at least occasionally for some kind of attachment. Being a monolithic rail I want to minimize the potential for rail damage since that means replacing the whole upper. FWIW, my main optics are either an Elcan SpecterDR 1-4x (stays on the vast majority of the time) or EOTech 558 + G33 for range playtime at distances 150 yards or less. The SpecterDR is pretty perfect for matching the 901's ideal engagement envelope. Suppressor, I've currently got a Surefire SOCOM 762-RC2 in jail waiting, ETA January '20. As far as modifications I've made: - I'm a big fan of the A2 grip but wanted something a little more suited to successfully supporting the rifle in position and on-target one-handed while manipulating this or that, and found the Hogue Extreme G10s a pretty great solution for something that retains the feel of the A2 but gives a little more surface in the hand. I've got a black checkered one serving as my grip. Drop-in replacement as it doesn't have a backstrap cover (grips that have one of those will need it sawed off to work with the 901). - I'm not a fan of both the front and the rear QD sling sockets being free rotation and found my sling would get tangled constantly in classes, which was annoying as hell as you can imagine. Solution was to get an IWC 45 degree offset limited rotation swivel and mount it all the way forward in the 12 o'clock position with the socket on the left side (since I'm right-handed). The front attachment point being limited rotation, with the rear on the IMOD stock being free ends up being a pretty great solution. - For the sling, I'm using a Ferro Slingster with KAC heavy duty QD swivels. - I replaced the stock Colt trigger with a Geissele HK416 SSF trigger since I have dreams of getting an RDIAS some day, and this is IIRC the only .308 the ATF has okayed using an AR-15 RDIAS with since the 901 is technically a .308 AR-15 rather than an AR-10 that can accept 5.56 uppers. - Bought a Colt ambidextrous selector off Brownells and replaced the stock non-ambi selector with it since Colt for whatever reason made the selector on the LE901 non-ambi even though the military CM901 is ambi. - Intend to replace the charging handle with the more modern ambidextrous charging handle on the CM762 once parts become available since they're backward compatible. |

I'm really glad I didn't sell my MARC 901 for $1100 the other week.
So Colt Canada announced the C20 Sniper (DMR?) Rifle for the Canadian Armed Forces, and it is a MCC derviative, looks closest to a 18.6" CM762 with an LMT stock. Since they will have to support their contract of several hundred rifles, spare parts will be made. I already bugged them about getting our hands on some spare parts. |

| I am not super surprised at those groupings, my MARC 901 loved A-MAX 155gr to the tune of a couple of .7-.8 three and four shot groups and one .33. Both my guns hate 168 and 175 FGM so I am suprised that is the load they are developing for and shocked at the 8k rds between failure, especially if any of those were suppressed. It looks like they are using an adjustable, gas bleed off (variable gas expansion from the marketing bs) gas block like the Superlative arms one I have on my CM762 but I don't have enough rounds through that to say if it is that much of a game changer. |

My 901 is sub MOA with 168gr FGMMs but 175s give me trouble, so apparently there's a line in the sand around 170 gr. |
