I'm considering purchasing the lefty upper to mate to a lower I have. However, RRA states this is basically a no-go and to go only with their lower yet one member here states it's not a problem. I'm going to assume the issue is with the open dust cover flipping down over the bolt - catch / release. If so, is there an actual mechanical problem there or an inconvenience of quick access to the mechanism? Thanks.
From the member referring to the RRA upper: "....... The upper doesn’t have the dumb Stag cover that flips up into your optic. It’s a much better receiver set IMO and despite the RR website saying it’s not compatible with normal righty mil-spec parts, it is." |

The LEF-T was designed to work safely and properly as a system of components that all work together. Just because something else fits doesn't make it right or even safe The primary concerns would be the bolt rotation into the barrel extension and rifling, and the bolt catch interaction with the incorrect bolt, Those are safety issues. There are other physical/mechanical issues, but they are unlikely to cause damage to your rifle or injury to the shooter.
