I saw in several reviews that the new Defender-ST has an improved emitter refresh rate and a 10 minute auto shutoff for shake awake, addressing criticisms of the Defender-CCW. Will these improvement trickle down to the CCW via an inline change or version 2 of the optic?

Would like to know as well. Somewhere online (utube,insta) it was said that the CCW was updated to a 10min sleep mode but their website specs/features still state 14hr.

Hey there - the Defender-CCW will have a rolling change that includes an improved auto-shutoff time and refresh rate!

This is good news. Any way to determine the updated from old like change in SKU# or UPC# ?

The box will have the updated specifications on it, so you'll know when purchasing it if it's an optic with 14hr or 10min shutoff times!

That will be difficult to determine when ordering on-line.

If you're ordering online then we'd suggest reaching out to that dealer to confirm if it's an updated optic!
