Good Afternoon,
I'm looking to roll a new AR Pistol and am looking for a PDW length (read: short) buffer tube setup for it. There are few options available and I saw your ad for the Vert cycle through when surfing GD this morning. Have you put any thoughts into selling just the necessary pieces from the vert stock system for an AR Pistol? From this picture on your site, it looks like just the tube, spring and buffer are needed. What would just those pieces cost as a stand-alone package? Vert PDW Stock |

Regarding your emphasis on the tube being a pistol tube, how would the pistol tube be different than the existing tube? I don't see why a special tube would be needed, based on what I see in the picture. Granted, you have the product nearby or in front of you and I'm using a picture. But is there something I'm missing? It looks like the tube is separate from the stock mount. Therefore, the tube, spring and buffer would be all that's necessary and the stock, stock mount and screws could be sold separately if/when a customer gets an SBR stamp. All you would need is a ring to replace where the stock mounted to make sure the spacing was correct. Thoughts? |

We have to modify the existing buffer tube shoulder area so it will mate up directly to the rear of the lower receiver. As is right now the buffer tube is pushing against the stock housing to hold it in place. We can't simply remove the stock mechanism and install the buffer tube as there would be no housing/stop. |

We have tested the (o) VERT PDW Stock System with Rifle, Mid, Carbine, and Pistol Length Gas Systems in Full Auto and Semi Auto Fire and works with all using M16 BCG. Unless your ammunition and under powered or if your gas port isn't large enough it should cycle just fine. If it is on the weak side then it might not lock back on the last round. Our stock system requires a bit more energy due to the second stage buffer spring force that you need to over come at the very end to lock back. It does offer a very soft recoil. See blue text above. You wouldn't need to modify the tube at all. Just make a ring that would go in place of the stock mount. It would be cheaper and take less time than redesigning the tube. Wouldn't it? |
| Less time and money to make one piece buffer tube vs. ring + original buffer tube and hard ano cost for both. Our machines are backed up running current production products. Design takes time but main reason is we don't have the machine time. It is in the works. We'll focus on it more in February, after we have a chance to recover from SHOT Show. |

Good to hear you've thought about it more than just a passing idea. Thanks for the responses! ETA: Oh! I just had a thought ... what about a polymer ring (delrin or other)?!? You wouldn't have to anodize it. It could be sized and sanded on a lathe, then just cut, clean and install. Granted, this is a very dumbed down and simplistic explanation of the process, but it would save some money as you don't have to anodize it, and it would be easier on your tooling than aluminum. |
