Steve, has any thought been given to replacing the roll pin that 'anchors' the slotted plug on the front of the gas system with a push pin or something easier to remove and return?
While I really like my PDS Carbine, this is the one point I don't like because it makes cleaning the gas system more difficult than it needs to be (for people who never clean their guns, it would certainly be less of a problem  ).

Yup. A lot of retention methods were considered and several were tried, and the pin that's there was determined to be the best method. Believe it or not, you can normally go fifteen thousand plus rounds without taking that plug out to clean inside the piston housing.
The one that we used as a test bed for what would go wrong, and when, on the original PDS had twenty thousand + rounds through it without that plug ever beingremoved when we finally got our first ((non-critical) failure. That was when they lost count on that particular pistol, but kept shooting it for some time thereafter, still trying oget a significant problem...which they finally did when tested with a micro-can.
