I am a hue Daniel Defense fan and just purchased my 3rd DD rifle, a DDM4 300 S during the free tax stamp promotion that SilencerShop was running in August. I have only had two range sessions with it. I am running 110 gr Hornady V-Max through it suppressed and after the 2nd range session, upon taking it apart to clean and lube, I noticed rust on the tail of my bolt behind the gas rings. The rest of the bolt and bolt carrier are fine. I called support earlier this week and talked to Noah who asked for pictures which I sent. I haven't heard anything back. Just wondering if this is normal in 300 blackout or if I should replace the bolt. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance and I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. |

While it wasn't a DD, .300 using Magtec supers, was a brownish color at the bolt tail, cleaned off, I think it's firing residue from whatever powder formula they used, maybe Hornady produces similar? Is it possible you had that as it does appear as it could be rust. |
