I have been on a Colt kick lately, and after realizing that living in the city limits has limitations for shooting 5.56, I decided on the 6951 to maintain the same functionality and still have fun and shoot in any indoor range. I bought a few Metalform 32 round spare mags, but otherwise are there any other spares/upgrades you guys would recommend? Searching old threads there seems to be something about upgrading the hammer/trigger pins? and it seems small parts from the bolt are next to impossible so probably just get out and enjoy it!

- Cut off a 2 inch piece of an old gas tube and pin it into the front sight tower to keep the handguard cap, and thus the handguards from rotating. - Get Slash's 9mm Q-buffer. The Colt buffer is too short and allows the bolt carrier too much distance to slam into the bolt catch on the last round hold-open. Q-buffer is just enough longer to prevent that. Otherwise, you will need spare bolt catches. No, I am not affiliated with Slash, just a customer. mark4 |

I purchased one from Bronwells a while back, but they OOS now. |

| This is great info! Thank you. I will install a bit of the forward gas tube, but I did notice that my lower does not have a spacer. I emailed Colt that it is missing (assuming they still do it). I did noticed when cycling the weapon that my bolt goes what appears to be almost an in behind the bolt catch. This seems excessive. Will keep ya posted and might try a Spike's tactical spacer in the meantime (or the Slash's buffer). |

Here is a pic of my spacer MY QR code scans April 28 2022 build date, bought new in box 2 years ago.

. I hope they just send me one out, but I did just order a Q9 buffer as well.

An old-school trick is to put seven or eight (I cant remember for sure) quarters in the receiver extension….. Also, get a hammer specifically for 9mm from Centurion or whoever so it doesn’t beat up your disconnector and FCG pins… It looks like a cut-down standard hammer.  IMG_5658 by SmëgHead, on Flickr" />
