Thought I'd share my experience with the service (or lack thereof) from this company.

A few weeks ago I was excited to see that the new Inforce 200 Lumen WMLs were available.  In another arfcom thread (here) Impact Weapon Components advertised here that they had the lights and to sign up with their Summit Account for "special deals".  I thought, "Great! I'll head over and get my WML and maybe save a few bucks with these guys".

So I went to their site, created a Summit Account, and then saw that they offered LEO discounts after upgrading the Summit Account.  So I went through the process of sending my credentials.  Shortly later I get the below email.

Officer Rankins,

DO you work for this Department?

Please advise,

Earl Pittman
Managing Partner - IWC

Giving the company the benefit of the doubt that the typo of my name was purely a typo, I responded advising that I do.  I did not get any response back and decided to purchase the Inforce WML without the "upgraded" LEO status to the Summit Account.  I went back to the company's website and attempted to sign into my Summit Account to now find the account had been deleted.  Frustrated with what felt like backlash from a CNN article of my police department, I purchased my WML from another provider.

I do not know if this was intentional treatment, but it sure did feel like this company chose not to have me as a customer because of an incident that happened in my police department.  In short, the link/article talks about a police officer shooting an unarmed man.  If that is the case then I would expect this company to not serve any other law enforcement department that had questionable, sustained and/or non-sustained charges on an officer of theirs. Would NYPD/LAPD not be served by this company?  If this is the case, I will not be doing business with this company and will be steering friends, family, and coworkers away for it.

I will say however that the majority of facts have not been given to the media reference this case and it is very biased.  I do not agree with the actions my department has taken on this officer, but am confident that his actions will be found justified once all the evidence is displayed.  It is a very bad precedent my department has started by arresting its officers first, then investigating later.  My department may not have this officer's back, but the officers in this department have his back.  Below is a more recent link regarding this case, one that still has yet to fully divulge all the facts.

Allow me to reply:

IWC is all about serving LEO. Roughly 22% of individual orders take advantage of our SUMMIT LEO discounts.

I did ask if you worked for that department You listed your position as above a Petrol Officer. I was curious about the shooting in light of the recent Zimmerman case in FL. I had intended to carry on a conversation with you regarding the incident, because you're in a unique position. I'm not LE, but enjoy learning all I can from those in the field, many have became friends, who began as customers, I enjoy discussing LE, politics, 2A, product T&E, with them.

As it often happens, I got called to other matters; our backlog spiked, our laser engrave needs began piling up after our sole supplier was forced to evacuate his Longmont, CO business for five days due to the flood. And I personally worked 2nd shift packing orders for a few weeks while launching a few new products.

I received your reply to the email you posted and had planned to upgrade your account to LEO as well as begin a conversation by asking a few questions about the case. But to be honest... Your email got buried and I forgot all about responding.

I Apologize.

It seems like you think I took specific action against you for what your department did. And decided to gain satisfaction or  retribution by publishing the above on social media (this forum)

I ask myself; Why would I take such a risk for my company, with a long history of serving LEO's, being a small for-profit business? Answer; I would not and did not. I got busy and forgot to respond to your request. A mistake. THAT's ALL.

I'm really surprised you chose to post this, an LEO. assuming you knew why your account wasn't upgraded to LEO or o didn't reply, instead of sending a reminder, like most do. (See the SHIPPING TIMES thread)

I hope this clears this matter up.

Regards,

EARL PITTMAN

As stated in the OP, I did feel that specific action was taken.  It appeared time was taken to send an email, and time was taken to change my Summit Account making it inactive after the email was sent.  But time wasn’t taken to reply to my email.  I believe many people would react similarly.

My post was not for my satisfaction or my retribution, but merely a review/feedback of the service I received; which these forums are full of.  This post did get a reply, and I am glad that the first response was from the company.

If this is a case of an email getting lost or piled over by many others, I can completely understand as I deal with many at work and I’m sure only a small fraction of what your company would have to deal with.

As of this morning I received an email stating my Summit Account has been upgraded.  However my account appears to still be inactive.  My gripe wasn’t that my Summit Account wasn’t upgraded or that I wasn’t getting special discounts, it was that my account was somehow made inactive after receiving that first email from the business.  If this is a website glitch or error than I can also understand that too, but it seemed convenient that it happened directly after the original email was sent.

Regardless, I appreciate your response and will keep your company in mind if I am in the market for any products you offer in the future.  Thank you for your timely response.

Thanks for accepting my apology and the reason behind it. Now that your account is active & upgraded to LEO, I hope you return for some of our existing or new products we've got in the works.

I'd also like to clear up the question you have about de-activating your account. It was not intentional. When someone creates an account, or requests an upgrade, like you did, or even places an order, sometimes their active account flag switches off, de-activating their account. I received this email yesterday from a customer who had placed an order, #19375, was checking status and could not login, "Website shows in stock yet I have not recieved my order also cannot log in with my email and password."  I have created a trouble ticket for my IT Partner to fix it.

I hope this clears up any misunderstanding you may have had regarding our brief email exchange. As you know, email is the worst wat to communicate. Had I known this was brewing, I would have picked up the phone and discussed it with you in person.

EARL PITTMAN
