Here is my little one compared to most of you guys! 1) Colt AR6520 2) Colt LE6920 3) Colt MT6400C w/ LaRue 7.0, TD Vertical, EOTech 552, LaRue Mount, TD Rail Panels, First Samco Grip, Colt 4-Pos Stock, Troy Rear Sight, A2 Hider, "F" FSB w/ Lug and All work done by ADCO (thanks). Are those the stock length barrels? |
No, the LE6920 comes with a 16" M4 profile barrel (ie. "govt profile" under the handguards, same diameter as a M16A2 barrel under the handguards) The barrels on these guns are 14.5" M4 SOCOM profile barrels (heavier under the handguards) with the Gem-Tech Bi-Loc flash hider perminately attached. I used the shorter / heavier barrel on these 2 guns to help minimize the amount of point of impact shift I was experiencing when using a suppressor. Edited to add this info from another post that I wrote: There is only 4 oz of difference between the Govt profile barrel and the M4 SOCOM barrel (you can tell a *slight* difference in weight). A pic of the M4 SOCOM barrel can be seen here: www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=7&f=22&t=284588 The reason I went with the Colt M4 SOCOM barrel (heavier profile) is due to point of impact change when using a suppressor. The shorter and stiffer the barrel is, the less point of impact change you will experience once the suppressor is installed on the barrel. When using a suppressor, you will experience a point of impact change. All of my guns are sighted in at point of aim / point of impact at 50 yards. Here is what I expereince using the M4-96D and the G5 suppressor using both 16" M4 profile barrel and the heavier Colt 14.5" SOCOM barrel: When I was using the M4-96D in conjunction with the Colt 16" M4 profile barrel, my point of impact was low and to the right (between 4 and 5 o'clock) and approximately 4" low at 50 yards. After the M4-96D was converted to the G5, the G5's point of impact shifted to approximately 3" low at 6 o'clock using the same barrel at the same distance (host guns were 2 Colt LE6920's). After switching to the Colt 14.5" M4 SOCOM barrel with the Gem-Tech G5, the groups are only approximately 1/2" between 5 and 6 o'clock at 50 yards. |

Thanks guys. When Colt purchased the AR-15 from ArmaLite (Fairchild) they immediately placed the rifle in limited production per the drawings provided by ArmaLite. This first model Colt/ArmaLite AR-15 was named the Model 601 or Model 01. Stupid Kali laws mean I can have Sabre Defense lowers, Doublestars, CMMG, Spikes, RRA... But no Colt AR's because they are on the LIST. SOOO this is my new, and third COLT.  My new XSE that gets it's first workout tomorrow. |

 My retired Gov't model competition .45 with Wilson Combat match barrel and compensator, Bo-Mar BMCS rear sight, Wilson parts; SS solid guide rod, ambi safety, beavertail grip safety, aluminum match trigger, Ti hammer, Ti firing pin, opened ejection port, flat checkered mainspring housing, beveled mag well, 20 lpi checkering and McCormick SS mags which I used back in the 80s USPSA-IPSC matches, 2" groups at 50 yds on Ransom machine rest with 200 gr semi wad cutter lead bullets, max load Bullseye powder.  Combat Govt model 80 Series .45 with solid match bushing, tuned barrel link and beavertail grip safety, all Colt parts except Wilson SS solid guide rod. I have a total of four Colt 1911 .45 my other two are stainless Gov't model 80 series and a Lightweight Officer's ACP model. ETA  Colt MKIV Government Model Series 80 stainless steel  Colt MKIV Lightweight Officer's ACP model, reliability work by custom gunsmith, narrowed hammer spur, polished feed ramp, tuned extractor, aftermarket black wood grip and hex grip screws  Colt M16A2 upper and buttstock group on MT6601 lower  Current configuration of my AR6721 with middy medium contour barrel That's all the Colts I have so far, gotta get some more.

    My first Colt...... Gonna try to get her sighted in this coming Saturday. After cleaning the factory grease off and going over this carbine I realize where you Colt guys are coming from.
