How different are these rifles? Do they share proprietary parts? |

I believe the barrels are interchangeable because the snout interfaces are the same on the 901/6940 as they are on the M5/M7, the newer guns just have the removeable rails so you have more clearance to work with for your wrench. Barrel nuts and receiver extensions should be the same. I'd like to see M7 charging handles and other spare parts become available. I've never broken one, but my Colts are working girls and if something were to happen I don't want to be SOL. I'm not sure why they made it different from every other .308 AR charging handle. I have seen some speculation that the bolts themselves may interchange with other .308 AR types though it is known that the carrier is proprietary because of the tail that slims down to fit in a regular M4 RE, but I am not sure on that part. |

The Colt 308 bolts will not interchange with DPMS pattern, don't remember the numbers but did the comparison. |

Other than the upper/handguard and gas block front sight, aren't the parts the same between the M7 and 901? |
