This YouTuber calls his rifle a Colt 6520, which normally I associate with a fixed carry handle/pencil barrel carbine.  The configuration is pure 6720, of which the last variant (as in my pics) was marked AR15A4.  The rifle in the video is marked AR15A2 like a Colt 6520.

EDITED TO ADD:  Based on another member's post and my rewatching the closeup shots several times, it appears to be an Anchor Harvey upper and not a Colt upper.  Still, the rifle does duplicate the configuration of a Colt 6720 even if it's not 100% Colt.

Colt 6520 Government Carbine AR15

My 6720 (my rifle originally came with fat M4 grips like the rifle in the video.  I added the CAR-15 handguards):

That a Colt AR6520 lower, but it's not a Colt upper.

Someone swapped uppers on it.

I thought of that, but it has the old style screw type front pivot.  Wasn't that problematic with swapping uppers?  Or did I miss something in the video?  I paused it at the appropriate spot and I didn't see a "C" marking but the video resolution in full screen is not the best.

EDITED TO ADD:  Okay I had to watch the video's closeup section of the upper three more times before I finally saw the Anchor Harvey marking on the upper.  So it's not Colt.

Good catch.

No issue, the 6520 had a small pivot pin.

Older 6520's weren't even drilled for a spring and detent. You can see @4:45 this one is and has a normal small pin.

EDIT: you can see the splintered A for Anchor Harvey on the upper @8:10 clearly. No Colt 'C'. The dead giveaway is it should be an A2 upper, not a flattop with a detachable carry handle.

I had to pause it several times in the closeups to see that.

My 6601 can with a milspec diameter screw pins so that’s not unusual.

The upper also lack the colt proof marking near the ejection port.

Yup…before the 6720 came about and the 6520 was discontinued some folks would swap out the upper receiver for a flat top to be able to use an optic more easily. Everyone wanted Colt to offer it in that configuration, and when they did they sat on shelves and people bitched the A2 variants went away. Just proof people want what they can’t have. I like the 6520’s but the ability to toss on a TA-33 or an Aimpoint T-2 is much more practical.

He says right in the video that the upper receiver was changed at some point.

Yes, he does.  But he kept harping again and again that the rifle is 100% Colt, so logically that means a colt A2 receiver was replaced with a Colt flat top receiver.  I literally had to pause it, back it up, go full screen, and repeat several times to see the split "A" marking.

Crazy to me to think the 6720 didn't sell very well. It must be true though or Colt would still be making them... At least for me, there's no way in this world I'd ever take a 6920 over a 6720.

I'd take a 6940 over a 6720 for the monolithic rail, but I'd also prefer a light weight barrel on the 6940 instead of the M4 profile barrel. Actually I could go one way or the other with the 6940, I'd like it with either a light weight barrel or a SOCOM profile barrel. Just no reason for the M4 profile barrel unless you're cloning an M4.

I kind of agree.  I was lucky enough to snag two 6720's over about a  year's time.  I plan to hold onto them, and I say that as someone who eventually gets tired of every firearm he's ever owned.

I never managed to get a complete 6720, but I did get a 6720 replacement barrel through G&R and I got a 6720 barreled upper (minus BCG, charging handle and rear sight) through Brownells. I turned them both into complete rifles, but unfortunately the Colt barreled 6720 upper has a canted FSB which I will probably end up sending to ADCO to have shaved down... Though other than my issues with that one, it's hard to get tired of the light weights.

Because people prioritize looks over function.
The M4 profile has always been a big iconic selling point..
Things went so out of control that some companies machined m203 cut on mid length barrels

Now that is crazy... Equally as insane as old Bushmaster saddling the Magpul Masada/ACR with the M4 barrel.

I can get the M4 barrel on clones, but outside of that there's just no point.

Early 416 weren’t any better no way a m203 would fit it due to the Hbar profile, proprietary barrel nut & one piece handguard

Lol, never even noticed that. But I never had an interest in piston ARs so I might not have looked over any of the advertising photos of them all that well.
