Feel free to call me stupid, but here is my story... I accidentally put the wrong barrel on a build. Unlike many of my firearms, this one was built up to be a regular every day shooter, not just one for pics. With the wrong barrel installed, it was sighted in, and the world was perfect. The scope is the VO 2-10, which I love. I decided that I would set my optic to use the zero stop, and that is where my problem started. When I went to sight it in, the weapon was firing 6 inches (plus) high at 25 yards. The scope is bottomed out, and I'm unable to change the elevation to go any lower. I looked up online how to reset the scope and bring it to factory zero, but either I can't follow instructions, or the video I watched had the instructions wrong. Either way, please use small words because I'm ignorant, and let me know how to get it back to factory settings so I can be happy again. Thanks!!! |
| If all you did was bottom out the turret so it no longer will go down, you need to release the top turret (usually an Allen screw) and then you can turn the knob down however many clicks you need and then bottom out the turret knob again. |

I just sighted it in, and it was super low when I started. I think in a convoluted way I did what you mention. I appreciate the quick response! I think I need more coffee at times....

It sounds like you might be talking about the Viper PST Gen II 2-10x32? If that's not the case, let us know! But it sounds like you were using the external turret to zero. Which in turn is only allowing you to use about 40-50% of the travel range. What you need to do is turn the elevation turret clockwise all the way until it stops. From that point, loosen the three set screws on the elevation turret and remove it. Then on the internal turret, you want to loosen those three screws as well and simply zero the optic at that point. There should be no clicks coming from the internal turret, rather a fluid movement with no audible or felt clicks. From there, tighten the three set screws on the internal turret. Then put the external turret back on with zero on the indicator line. From there the zero stop is set and the rifle is zero'd.
