You are correct on the lower, this is an old pic, parts are evolving

Hi guys,
I am a complete convert. I was running several different rails (NSR, Seekins, YHM) on several different guns in the past 3 years. On a whim I needed a rail for a 10.5 SBR build that was going to be suppressed. So, I decided (since I was running a flash hider with QD threads) that it would be best to buy a 9.5 inch rail. Well, through my searching I found Geissele, DD, and OdinWorks. I had always liked the look of Geissele but always strayed because of the pricetag. But, I said "what the heck" and ordered an MK2 (favorite design, because of the choice of forward rails) and splurged. Got the rail, mounted it on the upper and put the upper on a pistol lower (awaiting a stamp) and (I mean this) the first time I held the rail in my left hand it felt perfect. And, here we are today. The Mr556 is still awaiting its tan HK stock/grip.

Been a while since I posted something but here it is... The ORIGINAL MK4 Mod 0 design (by far my favorite of the MK series). Features a proprietary Geissele 14.5" barrel with a ALG Defense SCB pinned to the front bringing it to a perfect 16". The Geissele SGB matches the barrel perfectly!

I really have to hand it to you guys at Geissele...I was skeptical at first- of buying anything that wasn't KAC...but you've won me over. This is a solid rail.
Only complaint is that the machining on the top rail for the 1913 sections is a bit sharp and 'grater-ish' but I can deal.

I see your images and raise you another... This is my throwback build featuring the MK1 Mod 0 rail. The aesthetics of the rail rival the MK4 Mod 0 and it is the most ergonomic of all the SMRs; though I prefer the weight balance of the MK4. However, since a 14.5" LW barrel mysteriously showed up on my bench, I decided it was a good time to revisit the MK1 Mod 0 and it balances nicely.

The original MK1 Mod 0 design was close to perfect. The only changes I would've made were to the barrel nut screws to be recessed like the Mod 1 and more relief cuts to lighten it up a bit. We've released a lot of variations of rails but as much as I stray, I still come back to the MK1 Mod 0 and the MK4 Mod 0; they are literally functional art. That being said, this MK8 is very nice and I think folks will really enjoy it. |
