Daniel Defense has released its first standalone suppressor, the DD WAVE. The 7.62mm sound suppressor, which features an innovative 3D printed construction and unique overlapping-baffle design, is available with a quick-detach Acme Thread Quick-Clamping System or a direct thread application.
“The DD WAVE is unique because it’s constructed entirely using 3D direct metal laser sintering technology,” said Daniel Defense President/CEO Marty Daniel. “We are able to do things with this type of manufacturing that you simply can’t with a conventional machine. The one-piece design, constructed from Inconel, eliminates the need for welds, which are usually the weakest parts of a suppressor. So what you’re left with is a suppressor of unmatched strength and durability.” Making its first public appearance at the 2017 NRA Annual Meetings and Exhibits in Atlanta, Georgia, this past April, the DD WAVE has since created quite the buzz within the industry. Named in part for its advanced cascading baffle geometry, the DD WAVE features a design that cannot be duplicated through more traditional manufacturing techniques. The utilization of 3D printing technology allows for a one-of-a-kind baffle design that forces gas into concentric, confined spaces, extending dwell time in the suppressor and resulting in a product that more effectively attenuates sound. The DD WAVE is available in both quick-detach and direct thread options. The quick detach version features Daniel Defense’s proprietary Acme Thread Quick-Clamping System that won’t carbon lock and securely clamps the suppressor to a 17-4 PH stainless steel muzzle device, making it easy to remove even after extended use, while the direct thread version features a traditional thread to barrel application. Constructed of Inconel, stainless steel, and titanium—and then Cerakote coated—the DD WAVE is fiercely strong yet lightweight, making it durable, unobtrusive, and reliable enough to accommodate a wide variety of calibers ranging from 5.56 mm all the way up to .300 Win Mag. Looking for a new suppressor. Read everything I could Google on the DDWAVE: weight, size, caliber, construction, full auto rated, but NOTHING that I could find is published about what bbl length/caliber combinations it's rated for.
So, for MY usage purposes, is it rated for any/all of the below: 5.56, 10.3" bbl 300 Blackout, 8" bbl 6.8SPC, 10.5" bbl .308, 16" bbl If not rated for those lengths of bbls, then I need the minimum bbl length for those cartridges that it is rated for. I am confident that I am not the only consumer wanted to know that info. Thank you very much |

Still waiting for answers to my questions. Got a confusing email from DD that SEEMED to say it was rated down to 10.3" 300 magnum or that it SEEMED to be rated for 10.3" 300 Blackout (depends upon how you define "300") but not for an 8" 300 Blackout. On the other hand, another DD rep said they have no 10.3" 300 magnum so it couldn't have been tested that way. I sent the DD email to the 2nd DD rep so he could clarify it, but got no response.
Is it rated for the caliber/bbl length combinations listed in my post? I simply will not put out the $ if the suppressor won't handle my caliber/bbl length combinations or if the maker can't or won't answer my questions. Thank you. |

The DD Wave is rated for .300 WM. To the best of my knowledge, we've only tested it on a 24" barrel in this caliber.
5.56mm - 10.3" and longer is good to go. We've not shot it on anything shorter .300 BLK - Good to go on all common Barrel Lengths 7.62x51 - Good to go on 16" and longer. I'm not aware of any testing on anything shorter. |
