Well, some folks are telling me it's time to put some gun-shop rumors to bed from across the fruited plains... 
With all the hype about repeat-zero QD mounts, some being fantastic devices with space shuttle-like complexity and mysterious marvels of machinery (with fly-away springs), we'd like to share the following T&E document produced at .mil request. Special note - notice how well that 4X ACOG performs at 100 meters ... not bad. 
BTW, speaking of "tests" we anticipate some raised eyebrows over our forthcoming salt-fog tests. Ouch. But then again, it IS 2009 ... 
Before looking over the test, be advised, what you are looking at is the trigger-puller putting on the ACOG, getting down on the rifle, shooting one round at 100 meters, then getting back up (thus losing his cheekweld), then taking the ACOG off, then putting the ACOG back on, then getting back down on the rifle and shooting another round of one. Then repeating this procedure thirty (30) times in a row. So what you see ... is the scope went off and on for each of all thirty (30) shots. 
We have run 600 round torture tests here at our on-site range ... with the last 3-shot group being 3/8" ... but that was with a bit more magnification.

ETA - I forgot to mention a .mil-run test, (with the guys utilizing some laser gizmos) that ascertained that our mount was going back on zero within .084 moa - the equivalent of being less than 3/32 of an inch off at at 100 ... that seems to agree with this test whereas the shooter reckoned he was within .10". [b]ETA - 2 ... There is some confusion related to the sequence fo the test. The far right target was shot while aiming dead center of the diamond ... Both the far left and middle target were shot aiming at the 3 o'clock point of the diamond. Aiming point is denoted with double green circles.

| Good review! When can we expect the report on the SF suppressor. Given that the Surgeon is a sub 1/2 MOA shooter, I'm anxious to see what impact the 338 has, if any. |

I took my ACOG and LT QD mount to the range today.......removed it atleast 3 or 4 times and it always went back to what I consider to be well beyond an acceptable re-zero.
On another note.....God I'm piss ass tired from playing with my AR today.....spent 3 hours at the range and probably shot upwards of 500rds. |

Wow, just wow. The $30 mount I put on a friend's AimPoint was off by more than 4" to the left at 25 yards after removing it and reattaching it a couple of inches farther away from the stock. After moving it back, it was then centered left to right again but shooting almost a foot(!) too low. I wasted about two hours and around $50 in ammo trying to get it zeroed. I'm sending him a link to this thread and a request to buy a better mount. I don't ever want to screw around with a crappy mount again.z

Never mind the fact that the sight itself is nearly useless with the fact that it blocks half your vision through the scope by the tall base. But it comes with its own quick lever mounting system that probably should cost less than $30. I put it on, just sighted it in with a co-witness of my iron sites, took it off, put it back on and could tell without even shooting that it wasn't even close. At least your friend has options for his AimPoint, on this thing the mount looks built in so I'm stuck with it. Or I should say someone else will be stuck with it because I won't be putting it on my Stealth when it shows up. Hopefully selling it gets me close to an Eotech. Hard to believe what passes for acceptable these days, it's not even a matter of getting what you pay for because it looks like these Mepro's go for close to the same money as an Eotech or an Aimpoint. | Even though I only have a LT BCG for now, I have a lot of plans for it with LT (13.2 HG, FUG, microT1 & mount- but 9 more lowers are the priority right now, the fun stuff will have to wait). Seeing Mark do stuff like this only makes me more sure that not only will I have the best, the $ is going to a good place. Great job on everything Mark, from the gear to the generosity. Awesome. |

eta: M4S with LaRue Tactical QD Mount that is, which happens to Repeat zero. Then you would be referring to the LT 1.5 inch mount which is also set for NVG? I am using one of those and a QRP2 on the other M4s. I mean what the hell, as I still have another QRP2 as a back up, don't believe I will need it to back up the LaRue med 1.5 inch NVG mount w/ full, or %100 co-witness. Damn, I knew I forgot a mount, and now my 2 other one's (LT-606 & LT-707 (3) come tomorrow. Oh well. |

I have no doubt that my ACOG mount will re-zero each time but I will try it out as soon as I can get a chance.
I mounted it on my daughters Bushy M-4 that she hunts with.
I was so impressed with it that I ordered a LT-104 mount for my Stealth upper that I haven't even ordered yet!
I will remedy that situation very soon.

This^^^ Just got my business. I haven't bought anything from Mark yet, but I'm not happy with my ARMS mount on my Aimpoint. I'll be putting an order in next payday. |

If I complain about the arms mount on my $1800 Spectre DR will Larue make a replacement mount?
The Elcan is the only optic I own that doesn't live on a Larue mount. I cringe just seeing A.R.M.S. on the locking levers. Each time I touch them I get the feeling that maybe somehow they have infected me. Hell, I'll strip the Elcan off the mount and send it to Larue so he can ether modify it to use a Texas Spec locking system or make a replacement from scratch. |

Hmmm, now I just need to figure out how to mount that on my bench rest rifles. Just make a note card with the scope adjustments for each rifle at each distance and a log....
My past experience with QD rezero has always been that it's good enough for getting you back in the general area, that test shows a whole new level of performance and I WANT IT. Heheh, the AR gets one first, but I seriously might have to look into ways to mount one on the bolt guns. Maybe get small rail sections installed... |
