Just purchased a complete DDM4 300 S URG from Eurooptic.com that arrived today. All literature I reviewed states barrel twist rate as 1/8. Even the DD box label shows 1/8. Pics for reference… Attached File Attached File Attached File However, the barrel is stamped 1/7 on the actual upper. Attached File Attached File Looking for clarification etc. Is barrel stamped incorrectly or is listed specs outdated? Has something changed in current production? Anyone with similar experience? Honestly I doubt you could tell the difference between a 7-8. |

Which twist rate would be preferable? The faster twist rate of the 1/7 should help the heavier subs stabilize better, at least that's the theory. I'm putting together a similar upper here in East TX for the same critters and picked up a 1/7 twist Wilson Combat barrel. |

I’m not overly concerned or anything and you’re definitely right about the heavier subs. Mostly just want to make sure it’s not too fast for the 110 grain VMax etc. Also curious if it’s a deliberate change by DD or an anomaly. |

If we did change the twist rate, I can assure you it was done on purpose. We've been making 1:7 twist 300 BLK Barrels for our 7" PDWs since the beginning. It's my understanding that we've been testing the viability of the same twist rate for other barrel lengths as well (10.3" and 16"). I'm not certain of the results of that testing or if we've made any change across the board. Still waiting to hear from engineering on that. I'll report back as soon as I hear from them. S/F Joe |

Ok, so here's what I found out. Testing was completed and we determined that 1:7 twist was suitable for the longer barrel lengths that we offer. We intentionally made some 1:7 twist 300 BLK Barrels in both 10.3" and 16" and marked them as such. This was only temporary while we waited on new 1:8 mandrels for the hammer forge. We're back to making the 300S and Hunter 300 BLK with 1:8 twist barrels. If you purchased a 300S or Hunter 300 BLK under the notion that it came with 1:8 twist barrel and that's what you wanted, we'll gladly replace it for you. Just give us a call and speak with our warranty department. S/F Joe |

I’m good with the 1/7 as long as there are no issues or concerns with its combination with the 10.3” length and use of 110 grain ammo for hunting within 150-ish yards.
