I have an older slim rail (MLok) that can get REALLY hot, even when not shooting rapidly. What are the best options for dealing with this? Figured I could upgrade to an MFR XL but didn't want to spend the $340 right out of the gate.

Rail covers or a Burn Proof Gear Rail Wrap.

Definitely need to add some rail covers. Ergogrip Wedgelok Panels or BCM are both good choices.
