I just got a new 3-15x44 PST Gen 2 the other day.  I noticed the power ring seems to be binding between 4 and 6 power.  It is especially tight right around 5 power.  The rest of it feels pretty good, and isn't overly tight.  I worked the power ring back and forth for several minutes, but it's still pretty stiff in that one spot.  I also noticed the windage turret seems to have a lot of backlash.  The clicks feel fine, but the turret can be moved back and forth a fair amount without actually clicking it over.  I ensured that the set screws are tight.  Elevation turret feels great with no noticeable play.  I compared it to the windage knobs on both my 2-10x32 PST 2's, and they don't feel like this.  I was hoping to use it at a match next week, but now I'm thinking it needs to go back.  Appreciate any insight.

Sounds like it needs to go back. What did you end up doing?

Also curious, though Vortex will make it right.  I had two Viper PST scopes with issues.  Both times they replaced them.  The third got sold immediately, just didn't feel I could trust them.  That was a number of years ago, though so hopefully fewer issues nowadays.

I returned the PST to EuroOptic for a refund.  They took it back without any issue and even sent me a label.  I ended up buying another brand to replace it.
