| I was wondering if there is a correct lower to use with one of the IAR 11.5 uppers. Is the M4A1 or M4 lower correct or was any lower available used. |

I found this pic and if enlarged you can see IAR on the lower. Attached File Attached File Source seems reputable but I have zero knowledge of the IAR. AU is blowing out their Colt lower pricing today. |

So far as I know, AU is the only place that the IAR 11.5" uppers have ever been offered. Were they overruns from a particular contract, or did AU just have them custom made? I'm guessing that it's the latter because an IAR 11.5" upper doesn't really make much sense, but I could absolutely be wrong. I also wonder if AU will eventually come out with an IAR lower receiver like they did with their Commando and SCW offerings. |

The 11.5" makes plenty of sense for sustained fire and was specifically developed at FBI HRT's request. We won't be doing an IAR lower, not enough demand and I doubt I could even get Colt to agree. The M4 Commando and SCW were one-time deals that we won't see happen again. |

I'd be interested to know how a hostage rescue team would run a full auto SBR to the point that overheating the barrel is a concern. You'd think that semiauto would be used when rescuing hostages, but I guess they have to cover all the bases. |
