LINK Colt's Manufacturing Co. LLC, West Hartford, Connecticut, was awarded a $12,934,700 firm-fixed-price contract for Colt M4A1 carbines, suppressors, and flash hiders. Work will be performed in West Hartford, Connecticut, with an estimated completion date of June 30, 2026. Fiscal 2025 Foreign Military Sales (Israel) funds in the amount of $12,934,700 were obligated at the time of the award. Army Contracting Command, New Jersey, is the contracting activity (W15QKN-26-C-0005). |

A lot of the foreign aid Congress allocates for Israel is “must be redeemed in America” style. So they can buy guns, but they have to buy them from an American manufacturer. It’s always sort of hurt the adoption of some of the guns IWI makes like the Tavor. Doesn’t make sense to spend your own money buying those when you can spend American dollars and essentially equip your military for free. |

| Also, don't assume that this type of foreign military aid is straight charity. It's often simply loan guarantees, discounts or tied to other purchases of American hardware. Finally, Colt produces M4A1's for less than IWI can produce their weapons and the M4A1 is just as capable as the Tavor, M95, Galil Ace, etc., so it would still make sense for Israel to buy the M4A1's regardless. Israel's only risk is that they get cut off by some future administration, but IWI could almost certainly produce all parts needed if that happened. |

The AR platform has been chosen by lot of countries. Colt is filling various armies needs while at the same time major European mfg are capable of making their own AR version. |

Isreal chose the colts over the US made zion-15 or tavors. |

I sent my brand new M5 that had a major issue and a minor issue out of the box. The armorer cobbled it back together like Mr. Potato head. I don't know who the heck they have working for them. They work the drive through at Mc D's one day and are repairing $1,800 rifles at Colt the next. I called back about it and the "Product Service Manager" appeased me on the phone just to have me chase him around. Instead of sending me a new replacement part they just sent me back the original part they destroyed. |

I would love to see Colt make an updated M5 type of piston carbine. Especially with the HK MR556A4 doing so well. I’d imagine it wouldn’t bee too hard to do if a piston really becomes a requirement somewhere.. they didn’t include one on the IAR so I’m not holding my breath. That said some wanted a piston Colt so bad but once it was released it didn’t sell as expected.. Same for the middy barrels… I’m not surprised Colt is focusing on what has been working for 40+ years The only thing Id blame Colt is for not releasing their Diemaco line on the civilian market. |

Unfortunately, Canadian/US import laws signed by previous governments forbid the import of any Colt Canada products for the commercial market. Under the government regulations, Colt Canada products can only be sold to LE agencies or military organizations. |

Hard to say but at the very least they should know what parts are spec'd for a given firearm. Oh and not reusing a deformed $5.00 part might be a step in the right direction as well. |
