Colt SOCOM carbine - “M4 Carbine” marked lower?

Saw a sale posting on my local gun forums for what the seller claimed was a factory Colt SOCOM carbine. Markings appeared rollmarked, but he covered up everything below the pony.

I asked him to confirm if it was M4A1 Property of US Govt marked, or M4 Carbine marked. He answered that it was M4 Carbine marked.

I ended up passing because of that, but wanted to confirm here - is this a frankengun with a SOCOM upper and a regular 6920 lower, or did Colt actually ship anything in that configuration? Just curious.

At one point around 2013, Colt made some SOCOM LE6920 with Troy rail. That didn't last long, apparently people like authentic looking SOCOM M4A1 with US Property marking.

The 2012-13 SOCOM’s were marked M4A1 and no “property” markings. If that lower was marked M4, it came from a regular 6920.

Also those early SOCOM’s had 16” heavy barrels with no 203 flats.

There was also the 6920HBPW, poor man’s socom. It was a basic 6920 with the pin/welded socom barrel on it.
