I put my colt monolithic upper for sale the other day and a member asked for some detailed pictures. After sending them to him, he says the barrel might not be Colt. I purchased it new, as a complete upper, so I thought this was a little strange. I did a little research and now I am more confused. Can someone point me to where I might find the correct information? There is a C on the upper and the bcg. See picture for barrel markings. Thanks for any help. Attached File |

13629 is the Colt cage code. I think it’s very unlikely someone would have swapped the barrel with another barrel with a fake Cold cage code engraving and the proprietary barrel extension required for the monolithic upper… seems like a lot of trouble for no reason. not to mention the barrel nut wrench for those is unobtanium looks legit to me |

He said he thought it was a roscoe barrel. He did say he thought it should have a C. I'm not sure if he was uninformed, mistaken, or just trying to lower the price. I bought it new as a Complete Colt upper so I was pissed. Thanks for the info guys, I appreciate it!! |

It's a Colt barrel. Possibly subbed by Rosco, but they are not the only subcontractor. Man, people get so fucking twisted over Colt these days with all of the speculation and parroting of half truths based off of no clue. ETA: Check the barrel marking at the chamber area (usually bottom dead center on exterior), if it's stamped with an "R" it's Rosco subbed. Rosco is an OEM for several. |

From what I have seen, there has't been C marked new barrels in the last 8ish years. Exception seems to be on 20" barrels as some of the new uppers I have seen still are C MP marked...but this could also just be anecdotal and I haven't paid that much attention recently. Good luck with that buyer.....he's making it obvious that he is not knowledgable in this regard. |

Thanks again for all the info. I bought it as a complete colt upper from a dealer. It never crossed my mind that it would be anything other than colt, but I started second guessing myself. Ask and Arf provides!! |
