For those of us who are collectors and users of Colt rifles and carbines, we have long struggled with the accessibility of Colt spare parts. Well, our prayers are starting to be answered. Attached File I received four part kits in the mail today and thought I would share them with the crowd here. Also shown here are specification sheets for the part kits. I have been told that they are available through both commercial sources (Brownells, Midway USA, etc.) and Colt's network of law enforcement distributors. As the old saying goes...you have to crawl, before you can walk and run. I'm here for it and happy to see this in progress. |

Finally built out a lower with one of these LPKs. * Hammer and trigger are Schmid and the hammer is CAGE-coded. Honestly though, I don't care about the markings and I don't know if that's consistent for every LPK. No idea how good the trigger is because I installed a Geissele. * Safety is not Schmid and is about on par with the safety in my 6960, which is the smoothest and clickiest phosphate selector that I've used. Much better than every other brand of milspec phosphate safety that I've used (including Schmid). * I did have a problem with the selector binding hard on the detent, but replacing it with a spare Colt detent fixed it. The detent also didn't want to drop free, so I'm guessing that the radius was slightly too large, causing it to stick in the channel. It could have also just been a tolerance stack with my particular lower. No idea if this means anything, but I did notice that the included detent was more white than gold, unlike all the ones I've previously bought from Specialized Armament. The parts came in MIL-DTL-117H bags. |
