First range trip this morning with my new CMMG MkG200 Banshee .45 PCC. Shooting Speer Lawman 230 grain TMJ ammo (non+P). I had two SGM tactical 26 round magazines (one came with the PCC and one I ordered from GunMagWharehouse). Loaded the mags up to 25 rounds but something didn't feel right. Light spring tension I think. If I removed the 25th round the rest wouldn’t move up in the magazine. I removed 5 rounds from each magazine for 20 rounds in each. First 40 rounds and the pistol was flawless. Reloaded each magazine to 25 rounds and had nothing but problems. Misfeeds and double-feeds. Seemed to be problems until the magazines dropped below 20 rounds. I didn’t have any OEM Glock magazines to try. I’m guessing this is magazine related and I’ll just have to give OEM Glock mags a try on my next range trip. I’m kinda frustrated that CMMG would send these magazines with the firearm if they are a problem. Are there any reliable magazines with a higher capacity than the OEM Glock magazines? I’m not sure how useful this PCC is with only 13+1 capacity. |
| 100 rounds at the range this morning with OEM Glock mags. Not one issue. Not sure why CMMG sends a firearm with a SGM magazine that’s pretty clearly unreliable junk. And I still haven’t received a return call from tech support / customer service. |

For what it’s worth I’ve found that SGM mags are hit and miss. I number all of my mags to keep track of the good and bad ones. Weak springs and dripping plastic on the inside seem to be the main issues SGM has been good about replacing them but you are still getting hit or miss products. Ironically the KCI mags work better. I don’t think I’ve had a problem with a single one. I say ironically because they make the SGM ones. Despite the limited round count I have been buying Glock mags as they are 100% reliable. My defensive rounds exclusively live in Glock mags. CMMG is wickedly busy now but I have always found them to be quick to respond when I’ve reached out. I have had zero problems with my MkG though. It’s been great. |
