Just got an e-mail from Doug. To say that he is extremely emotional over the generosity of LaRue Tactical and all you arfcommers would be an understatement. He has gone from a very dark place to seeing a light at the end of the tunnel.  In the 20+ years I have been here I think..wow..it can't get any better than this..and you people step up and prove me wrong..yet again. It is extremely humbling to be part of this...thank you. Doug has some logistics to sort out in regards to a method to accept the donations..one of those being the Patriot Act in regards to large deposits in bank accounts. He is extremely overwhelmed so this may take a day or three. Mark..I will e-mail you the info when I get it from Doug. |

I happen to really like my AR gold. As for the EE idea, if you're looking to raise a little extra, I could do another $156 donated straight to the giveforward page. This, combined with the $20,000 through the dillo sales, would put him at the $25,000 goal. If someone can donate more  but that's all I have on tap right now after the dillos.

No problems with the trigger - it just doesn't sound right to ask a guy who has graciously taken valuable time away from promoting his new in-house triggers to include another brand in this giveaway.

It's a 'gift' to Doug from LT how he uses it to pay for a life saving operation is his choice.
Gifts aren't taxable below $x / yr I'd check with someone other than the son of a retired agent but that's my recollection  and I'm betting Mark's accountant can make sure to keep it above board and off Doug's and Mark's respective backsides.

Is there a way for Dougs family to set up a account strictly for medical billings that would not fall under a taxing? Almost like a non-profit without going through everything to set up a non-profit. I'm just spit balling as it comes to my mind. I don't want to see Doug or his family get burdened with such a large amount after the fact. As far as Mark, I'm sure he has his people looking at how it affects him and to minimize his $$$ for these things. Either way, what Mark does is incredible and selfless beyond anything. It makes me want to when I have the extra dough buy a complete rifle from him. I'm looking at a few mounts now and need to finalize them to get that out of the way. |

Depending on how this is handled this could be a taxable event for Doug. Nothing is reported because they are check deposits. That's paper trail enough. The only time things are reported is when it's a cash deposit over 10k. Even then it's not necessarily reported. The banks just document it just incase big brother asks. Just so you know if you were to make to cash deposits of 5k that's called structuring and that's a big no no and it's all documented. Then you're in trouble with the Feds and what they call a UAR (unusual activities report) is filed. I work in the banking industry. |
