Which would be the best choice for a 20" 5.56 upper with standard rifle length gas system -- the 4.7oz T1 or the heavier T2?

IMHO either will be fine. I run a 2 in my carbines and it really helps. But on a rifle, you'd be fine with a 1.

This is my first one years ago. (Vltor parts but the same system.) It actually ran fine with a standard carbine buffer in a regular extension. The A5 really makes it smooth. I ran a 1 in this one. Consistent ejection pattern, no feeding or ejecting issues.
