Would like a reliable mag for my Ruger American Ranch in 300 blk. I understand the coof was a thing, but even a tentative release date is better than the missed summer 2020.

I too made the mistake of buying a Magpul stock for my Ruger 223. I email them periodically and they just keep telling me they’re working on it.

I just came to this forum to see if they ever plan on making a 223/5.56 AICS style mag. I have the MDT version and while it works alright, when it has the full 10 rounds in it, it bows out at the top and make it hard to seat in the magwell because it rubs the sides.
Hoping the magpul will be better/stiffer. All they need to do now is actually release it. |

Now I get covid happened and all, but it’s the main thing holding me back from buying one of their ruger stocks for a 300 blk setup. They seem to be sending out shirt and beanies fairly well tho so idk. |

I've been wanting to mount my R700 SPS Tactical in a Hunter stock, but want to just do the work once and install the bottom metal kit at the same time. I guess I could do that with the hope that the mags will eventually arrive, but thats a bit of a leap. Is there any other mag that will work with the Magpul Hunter stock and bottom mag kit?

We need the Magpul because our Ruger 3 lug actions don’t play well available 223 AICS mags. Magpul sure failed to mention that and now people are stuck and hoping the Magpul mag will fix the problem. The normal two lug actions like the 700 don’t seem to suffer from the problem. Standard AICS mags should also allow a long COAL if you want to shoot some heavy bullets.

View Quote I'm trying to make every rifle I have as "functional & accurate" as possible, ready for target as well as self defense. My bolt guns were lower priority than my AR's and other more traditional "combat" rifles, but I've had success with a R700 SPS 20" .308 on a Hunter stock and detachable mag kit so I'd like to do the same for my .223 and maintain systems commonality. I'd really like to swap barrels on both of my SPS Tactical's for more optimized chambers/twist rates, but money and availability is short...."you go to war with the army you have, not the one you want" |

Honestly what irritates me more than anything is the fact that there is still no disclaimer on the product page about the problem with 223/300 guns. I guarantee people are still buying them. |

I’m no longer in the market for this product. I’m just curious to see when they start shipping. Their fb live video said by the end of Q1 but I’m not a distribution type so I’ve got no clue when the quarters begin or end.
I mean bump. |

I has a Hunter stock for 300blk and a couple of these mags. https://www.brownells.com/magazines/rifle-magazines/magazines/short-action-10rd-aics-magazine-223-5-56-prod71761.aspx
They're spendy, but they work. |

No, remington 700. I did just make a custom rem700 for my manager in .223 in the Pro magpul stock and he had some ruger mags. I think they needed a bit of fitting, but they worked.

I have actually used that length when loading some 80gr nosler CC's in my savage that I built. It has a x-caliber barrel with a 1-7 twist 223 wydle chamber. However at that length I had some feeding issues as the bullet tips hit the bottom of the barrel below the chamber before it popped out of the mag. I might be able to tweak the feed lips a little to help though. The magpul mag states a max COAL of 2.39. So the magpul will be a little shorter. Curious how it will feed with a round seated to the max length it allows. Maybe I will find out by winter... |

Mine just showed up today.
As of right now it is a total fail. Rifle is a Savage 110 tactical with the factory accu-stock and the factory AICS style bottom metal. It came from the factory as a 308. I changed the bolt head and barrel to 223. I have been using a MDT mag. I insert the magpul mag and notice right away it rocks back and forth a large amount. I load it up with some dummy rounds and as soon as the bolt pushes on a round, the front of the mag drops down and the tip of the bullet hits the face of the receiver under the feed ramp. If I hold up on the front of the mag it feeds perfectly. If I let go, the front of the mag drops and the round hit the receiver under the feed ramp. The MDT mag does not do this. The magpul 308 AICS mags do not do this (I have another 110 tactical in 308 with the same stock and bottom metal) So the issue seems to be the 5.56 AICS mag. I sent a message to magpul to see what they say. |

Ended up calling magpul CS friday and spoke with tech support.
I guess they are not compatible with savage DBM. The guy said they are made for accurate mag metal magazines. I told him this rifle shipped from the factory with a magpul 10 round AICS 308 mag and it fit and functioned perfectly. And I also have been using a MDT 223 AICS mag with no issues. He really did not have anything to say about that, other than this new 223 magpul AICS mag will not work. So I am sending it back for a refund. |

If anyone else gets one, let us know if it does or does not work and what rifle/bottom metal you have. Maybe we can hope for a gen 2. |

Supposedly some of the longer feed lip metal mags have a greater chance of working but it’s still a gamble. I have no idea if the other 3 lug 223 actions suffer from it but for anyone wanting an AICS fed 223 gun I would just stay away from the Ruger American’s. |

Kinda wish that they’d had designed a hunter stock or a magwell that accepted pmags. |
