My Mod H mounted ACE stock hasn’t gotten squirrelly, and I’ve used it in a few matches that were more physical. |

The Gen 3 does not have a spacer or nut, it uses a gusset to retain the takedown detent spring and support the threads of the buffer tube. A common mistake during installation, is pressing the gusset forward, then tightening the screw on the gusset. As they tighten the gusset, it will back away from the receiver. We recommend keeping constant pressure on the gusset against the receiver while tightening the screw. This fixes most of the issues. We solved this issue with the Gen 4 used a more traditional endplate and a wider castle nut to help support the threads. There have been some other solutions to the issue that have been listed in this thread that involves using a Thin Lock Ring to keep tension on the gusset against the receiver. https://doublestarusa.com/thin-lock-ring.html . This isn't what the part was created for, but it fits the bill rather than cutting down a castle nut. Thanks, Jesse |

The round lock works fine, but there were some issues with people mortaring with the stock extended, and "ripping" it open or closed. "Ripping" is pushing the button enough to unlock it, then quickly pulling it open or pushing it closed and releasing partway through, wearing down the edges of the locking slots. Mortaring while the stock is extended will wear and eventually shear the aluminum tab that holds it in position. The square button of the Gen 3's was an improvement, but there were still some issues that the lock and slot change didn't fix, which led to Gen 4 with the thicker tube and the elongated notches for more surface area. The re-release version of the Gen 3 SOCOM's only have 4 positions instead of 5, giving a thicker tab between positions, making it more robust than the original. Thanks, Jesse edited because I did not comprehend what I read. |
| I know it's highly unlikely, but any chance these could be made with a slightly longer buffer tube? Making a 6.5CM 14.5" "assaulter" off a POF Rogue chassis and they use a buffer tube that's 7.75" long (half inch longer than a normal AR15 carbine buffer tube). I think it'd look exceptional on my build and I'm sure others would be interested. |

I'm not sure if it has been recently mentioned or brought up but is there any thought about making the old style butt pads again? (just a guy who is finally getting around to building my stocks I got on the first batch in 2023...) |

(just a guy who is finally getting around to building my stocks I got on the first batch in 2023...) The tool that ran those pads was destroyed during production, which led us to make a new tool. We updated the design and composition. I do not foresee there being enough demand to justify a new tool, the break even point was 10k pieces a few couple of years ago when we looked into it, and that would take over 5 years at our best sales levels to hit. I think I may still have some of the original pads at my house if you're looking for one. Send me a message if you're interested. Thanks, Jesse |

that lock ring has been a godsend and i have already done a few for guys and my own. thx again for alerting me to them, there is JUST enough room to fit them into the gusset on the new style stocks threaded length and secure the detent. I have to grab more of them! i need to grab a spanner for the hole since my dpms wrench teet broke off. ill check the site for one actually... i have some of those pads, ebay had some last year. guys hit me up about them frequently. if i post a pic or video about the ace stock, i get "where did you get that pad" DMs lol |

The only issue I ever had with mine, many years ago, it managed to get dirt or a little rock or something inside which made the button lock up. I monkeyed around with it and it’s been rock solid ever since. |

| Ok so you guys killed it with this stock. So who do we have to bother now for you guys to make that DD MFR rail again? I heard you guys made it for them and that’s why you had all those on GB for a while. The demand is all over Instagram. And even more so for the 416 rail. |

Jesse, When purchased the ace socom stock I also bought the thin lock ring. ( A618, Cage 70NN3) When installing I've tried both inbetween the gusset and after. Neither seem to work as the gusset won't match when before and the thin lock ring won't go After. Please tell me how dumb I am and let me knothe correct way to install the two together. Just the stock alone has a crazy shake. (FWIW, yes, I applied adequate pressure against the gusset to the receiver then tightened) Thanks |
