I picked up a used one a few weeks back. Didn't know it was a 6951. Came with a promag drum that does work. Picked up a couple stick mags. Rifle shot very well. Anyone run one suppressed? Have not removed the hand guard. Do these have a date stamped on the barrels like 5.56 rifles usualy do? Attached File |

They have 32 and 20 rounders. |

I went and shot my 6951 with 150 rounds. Fed 147 FP, Fed, 115 FMJ and 124 FMJ and syntec 150 low power factor loads. (Low recoil) I tried a hydraulic buffer and was getting short strokes failure to eject and trying to rechamber a fresh round causing a stove pipe so to speak. I used Colt/Metalform 32 round and ASC 32 round. I had this type of failure with a hydraulic buffer and a 7 ounce buffer from Vltor. Same issue. I put the stock colt 5.5 oz and no issues. I guess colt knows what they are doing |

I guess colt knows what they are doing I shot my Dec 2023 purchased Colt 6951 right out of the box without cleaning with CCI Lawman 147 grain, Winchester white box 124 grain nato, and Sellier and bellot 115 grain ammo using colt 32 round marked mags and had no FTF or misfeeds. The colt marked mags are readily available now, no reason to buy anything else. It just works and is light weight. |
